Ladies of Hamilton Full Album Cover

Ladies of Hamilton Full Album Cover

Project Overview

Hey y'all-

Recently, I worked on covering two songs from the musical Hamilton with an amazing cast.  Now, I'm planning on extending the project to the ENTIRE ALBUM. With a female-only cast. It's gonna be great.

To audition for this project, please make sure you have two things:

1. Reasonably good mic quality  I want this project to be good. I don't care about the exact model or type of mic you have, so long as it sounds pretty clean and there is little to no background noise.

2. Time and effort  I take this project seriously, and covering 46 songs is going to be a major undertaking for everyone involved. Please make sure you are committed to this project before you audition. I don't want to re-cast a role simply because you don't want to be a part of it anymore. (If you have to leave the project for a legitimate reason, that's totally fine by me.)

I encourage everyone to audition for at least one ensemble role so I can have a chance at casting you even I feel you don't make the final cut for a role.

That's all I require from you. I want this project to be fun for everyone involved, and it's already been fun for what we've worked on so far. Thanks so much!

-Chloe

  • Good News

I realized I'm too busy to cast tonight and brought the deadline back to where it was. I hope you don't mind.

  • Important!

    Hey everyone-

Today is your last day to get in those last minute auditions. I'm casting tonight. Best of luck!

  • Hey! Important deadline info!

    Hey y'all-

    I have finalized my deadline!

The official deadline for placing your auditions is December 20.

After that, all roles will be cast and I will send out info and commitment forms.

I'm not closing the project on the 20th in case I may need to recast a person who cannot complete the project.

All commitment forms are due the 31st, and the cast will receive recording information on January 1st.

Thanks for your cooperation, get those auditions in. I can't wait to hear what will come from you.

    —Chloe

  • Y'all,

Just saying, if you audition for an ensemble role, you don't have to do a piece that the ensemble character sings. For example, if you're auditioning for Ensemble #1, who'll be voicing Seabury as well, you don't have to do Farmer Refuted. You can, and I'm not stopping you, but I wanted to make clear that you're not required to. Thanks!

Eliza has to hit a lot of emotions in the show, from heart-fluttering love to heart-breaking despair and everything in between. Needs a very expressive voice and a higher range, and must be very flexible in singing.

  • Please sing this passage from "Helpless".

    ------------------------------------------------------

I have never been the type to try and grab the spotlight,

We were at a revel with some rebels on a hot night.

Laughing at my sister as she's dazzling the room,

Then you walked in and my heart went BOOM!

  • Please sing this passage from "Burn".

    -------------------------------------------------

You and your words flooded my senses.

    Your sentences left me defenseless,

You built me palaces out of paragraphs,

    You built cathedrals.

I'm rereading the letters you wrote me.

I'm searching and scanning for answers in every line,

    For some kind of sign,

    And when you were mine,

    The world seemed to burn,

    Burn.

The oldest and the wittiest Schuyler sister. Raps on par with Hamilton and thinks as fast too. Must be able to both rap and sing extremely well.

  • Please rap this passage from "The Schuyler Sisters".

    -------------------------------------------------------------------

I've been reading "Common Sense" by Thomas Paine,

So men say that I'm intense or I'm insane.

You want a revolution, I want a revelation,

    So listen to my declaration.

"We hold these truths to be self-evident,

That all men are created equal."

And when I meet Thomas Jefferson,

I'm a compel him to include women in the sequel!

    Work!

  • Please sing this passage from "Satisfied".

    ------------------------------------------------------

    A toast to the groom,

    To the bride,

    From your sister,

Who is always by your side.

    To your union,

And the hope that you provide.

    May you always

    Be satisfied.

Peggy: Youngest Schuyler sister. Young, innocent voice. I believe in your ability to voice Pegs, so I'm really casting—

Maria: Lower, sultry voice. Gotta have a good range and smooth singing.

  • Please sing this passage from "Say No To This".

    ------------------------------------------------------------

I know you are a man of honor,

I'm so sorry to bother you at home,

But I don't know where to go,

And I came here all alone.

    My husband's doing me wrong,

Beating me, cheating me, mistreating me,

    Suddenly he's up and gone,

I don't have the means to go on.

Dramatic, regal, and a little bit mad. Must be a reasonably good singer and an outstanding comedic actress.

  • Please sing this passage from "You'll Be Back".

    ------------------------------------------------------------

    You say

The price of my love's not a price that you're willing to pay.

    You cry

In your tea which you hurl in the sea when you see me go by.

    Why so sad?

Remember we made an arrangement when you went away.

    Now you're making me mad,

Remember, despite our estrangement, I'm your man.

Lafayette: Raps really fast. A big ol' ball of French energy. You need to do "Guns and Ships".

Jefferson: A jazzy singer in "What'd I Miss" and also raps fast in "Washington On Your Side". Smooth voice and kind of a Southern accent.

(I can't put two accents into the character box so)

  • Please rap this passage from "Guns and Ships"

    --------------------------------------------------------------

I'm taking this horse by the reins,

    Making redcoats redder with bloodstains,

And I'm never gonna stop until I make 'em drop,

Burn 'em up and scatter the remains,

Watch me engagin' em, escapin' em, enragin' em,

I go to France for more funds,

I come back with more guns.

  • Please sing this passage from "What'd I Miss?".

    -------------------------------------------------------------

France is following us to revolution,

There is no more status quo,

But the sun comes up and the world still spins.

I helped Lafayette draft a declaration,

Then I said "I gotta go,

    I gotta be in Monticello,"

Now the work at home begins.

Mulligan: Rough and tough voice, powerhouse rapper.

Madison: Calm and cool, the complete opposite of Mulligan. Sounds more mature and sings in much the same style as Jefferson, just slightly less smug.

  • Please rap this passage from "Yorktown"

    -----------------------------------------------------

A tailor spyin' on the British government,

I take their measurements, information and then I smuggle it!

    To my brothers' revolutionary covenant,

I'm runnin' with the Sons of Liberty and I am lovin' it!

See, that's what happens when you up against the ruffians,

We in the shit now, somebody's gotta shovel it!

Hercules Mulligan, I need no introduction,

When you knock me down I get the fuck back up again!

  • Please sing this passage from "What'd I Miss?".

    -------------------------------------------------------------

Thomas, we are engaged in a battle for our nation's very soul.

Can you get us out of the mess we're in?

Hamilton's new financial plan is nothing less

    Than government control,

I've been fighting for the South alone.

    Where have you been?

The model of a modern major general. Must be able to rap reasonably well in Right Hand Man and sing well in One Last Time especially. One of the more mature characters here, might sound a bit older.

  • Please rap this passage from "Right Hand Man".

    --------------------------------------------------------------

Now I'm the model of a modern major general,

The venerated Virginian veteran whose men are all linin' up

To put me up on a pedestal, writin' letters to relatives,

Embellishing my elegance and eloquence, but

The elephant is in the room,

The truth is in your face when you hear the British cannons go BOOM!

  • Please sing this passage from "One Last Time".

    ------------------------------------------------------------

    One last time.

Relax, have a drink with me

    One last time.

    Let's take a break tonight,

And then we'll teach them how to say goodbye,

    To say goodbye,

    You and I.

Burr is an intriguing character. He has a lot of interior motives and shifts from narrator to near-antagonist as the story progresses. Looking for a smooth voice here, must be able to belt out songs like "Room Where It Happens".

  • Please sing this passage from "Wait For It".

    -------------------------------------------------------

    Death doesn't discriminate

Between the sinners and the saints,

It takes and it takes and it takes.

    And we keep living anyway,

We rise and we fall and we break

    And we make our mistakes.

And if there's a reason I'm still alive

When everyone who loves me has died,

I'm willing to wait for it,

I'm willing to wait for it.

  • Please rap this passage from "A Winter's Ball"

    -----------------------------------------------------------

How does a bastard, orphan, son of a whore

Go on and on, grow into more of a phenomenon?

    Watch this obnoxious, arrogant,

    Loud mouth bother,

Be seated at the right hand of the father.

Both Laurens and Philip are young and bold. Laurens raps well and sings in "The Story of Tonight" and is fun-loving. Philip is like his father but bolder, and for both of these characters I'm looking for characterization.

  • Please rap this passage from "Blow Us All Away".

    --------------------------------------------------------------

Meet the latest graduate of King's College!

I probably shouldn't brag, but dag, I amaze and astonish!

The scholars say I got the same virtuosity and brains as my pops,

The ladies say my brain's not where the resemblance stops!

  • Please sing this passage from "The Story Of Tonight".

    --------------------------------------------------------------------

    Raise a glass to freedom,

Something they can never take away.

No matter what they tell you.

Raise a glass to the four of us,

Tomorrow there'll be more of us.

    Telling the story of tonight.
