The wait is over!
December and January were busier than I could have fathomed, but things are slowing down and I can get back to my passion projects. I will be casting roles over the coming days, so make sure to keep an eye out on casting status.
INTRODUCTION
Greetings one and all. I apologize in advance if this is a tad disorganized. This is my first time doing something like this. This is the first Casting Call for Lacrimosa, A full cast audio drama that I am producing. Lacrimosa is about of many things but, at its core, it is a story about two brothers, Dimitri and Augustus, whose lives are inexorably uprooted by a world changing discovery. The story starts in late 18th century London, where industry is on the rise and the population is growing rapidly, yet in the shadows of these growing urban landscapes do discontents gather to make their claims on society.
From a narrative standpoint, Lacrimosa is a short(ish) story explaining the origins of... well, Lacrimosa, an inscrutable organization that exists and operates in multiple realms with unknown goals. They are a semi-frequent presence that I plan to have appear and influence the events of certain worlds.
I will not be casting for the entirety of Lacrimosa in this single instance. The plan is to cast all roles nessecary for the current chapters and some potential provisional roles for upcoming segments that might make it into the first part. I plan to write ahead of produced content, even if the story itself is not finished. So don't be alarmed if you get cast but do not have any lines. I haven't forgotten you(probably). I plan to have each completed part(excluding this) to be approximately half an hour, depending on when chapters come to an end, so I am casting with that flexibility in mind.
AUDITIONS
The story is in English and only requires English to be spoken, though there will be some preferential casting accents for certain roles.
Matching character ethnicity is encouraged but not required. I don't want to postpone production because I can't find a half Filipino, half Czech American immigrant with a Brooklyn accent who just so happens to be a voice actor.
The deadline is December 14, but the casting call may close prematurely if I have cast all roles, so the sooner you audition the better!
After being cast, you will have a month after the casting deadline to turn in your lines. Please only audition of you are confident in your ability to meet the deadline, as I may do a mid deadline check to inquire about progress.
Failure to meet with the deadline will most likely result in a recast, exceptions pending.
REQUIREMENTS
The ability to read and speak.
No experience required! newcomers and seasoned actors alike are welcome.
Clean audio with minimal background noise.
Some post production clean up is fine(i.e. noise reduction),
No voice modulation please! There are no robots in this story.
No real limit on takes. Show me what you can do!(Don't do like ten though. Have some mercy)
WAV's please.
Have a discord and email address.
Don't guess if you are unsure about something. Please ask me if you have any inquiries.
Is there more? probably. Can't think of anymore at the moment.
WHAT TO EXPECT FROM ME
Transparency on dates, deadlines, and progress reports on the project.
A discord server to lurk in.
First consideration for new projects(there will be plenty).
Credits for your wonderful participation.
PAYMENT
I am but a poor part-timer with little funds to go around.
That's about it. This took longer that I thought to write, thanks for stopping by and I look forward to hearing your auditions.
DISCLAIMER: Mild racism and harsh language
December and January were busier than I could have fathomed, but things are slowing down and I can get back to my passion projects. I will be casting roles over the coming days, so make sure to keep an eye out on casting status.
I realize that it says cast to offsite actor but that is a mistake on my end. No roles have been cast as of this post. This is my first time on the hosting side of a casting call, so I am still figuring all this out. Apologies for any confusion this may have caused.
British accent is preferable for this role.

PERSONALITY: The phrase "The apple doesn't fall far from the tree" applies to many people; Lawrence isn't one of them. Unlike his father, Lawrence is outgoing, charitable, and kind. He does ,however, have his father's wit, intellect, and charisma, and he knows how to leverage them. Though not fond of deceit and manipulation, he does not underestimate their occasional value. He's also a bit of a flirt.
“Try thinking of it as failing forward if it helps.”
(Stretching sore muscles) “I understand the motive that necessitates the relocation of our hold, but blimey! These long carriage rides will sooner be the death of me than any persecution.”
"And I fell to mine knees in defeat, my strength forfeit, my limbs beleaguered, my resolve quaking, but most of all, mine heart aching, for failing in my destined quest to claim a Unicorn for you, my dearest Jessica...”
British Accent is preferable for this role.
CHARACTER PROFILE:
NAME: Augustus Eugene/Thomas Mason
NAMEDAY: September 17, 1769
NATIONALITY: Great Britain
ETHNICITY: Chad
SEX: Male
AGE: 21
HEIGHT: 5'9"
HAIR: Black
EYES: Brown
AFFILIATION: Eye of The Mound(former), Lacrimosa
FAMILY: Dimitri Vincent(Honorary Brother)
BIO: A boy who was unfortunate enough to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. His family had been traveling to the coast from Central Africa to search for new land to settle in after an unexpectedly brutal drought.
They were later apprehended by traders and shipped off to the colonies where his parents were sold. The boy was bought and taken to Britan by a particularly angry looking man.
PERSONALITY: Cold, reserved, and calculating. Having his life stripped away by the greed of strangers left him hollow and cynical to the world at an early age. His grim disposition would come to change after being found trying to read by the lady of the estate; rather than punish him, she placed him in the care of her son.
“Indeed I would have Master Howard, however Master Lawrence departed late last eve. I know not as to where.”
“I see. That is quite the conundrum.”
“And you deem his rationale to be both a malady and product of my design?”
The narrator. This role is not a character, but does have a peronality of their own. They are as invested in the story as the characters, so let you narrative charm shine!
Under the cover of night that blankets the city, and obscures the ever watching eyes of the law, individuals gather to discuss…something, be it mundane nothings or edicts that shape history. The world waits in anticipation for change so great that few people ever notice the difference.
*ahem* Well, almost nothing.
The sun had risen high on this day, cyclical and reliable, day after day. Man has long since come to terms with this cadence. Their routine notes in the circadian ballad of life. Though masters of society and tradition, subservient is man to habit, yet like the mighty sun above, so too does man rise, day after day, aspiring to be just as bright.
Perseus is one of the members of Eye of The Mound. He is a reserved man who primarily keeps to himself as he believes most others around him to be uncouth and mentally absent, and though he wilts in the presence of domineering personalities, he is known to butt heads with other intellectuals.
“Achoo!”
“Yes, of course...Only you would consider blunders a boon.”
“No no no no no. Dimitri, we are not doing this tonight. You always have to try something funny at every waking moment, don't you? First, you recommend anonymously publishing comedic satire criticizing national policies, then you proposed writing an official appeal to the governing bodies that would repurpose the St. Paul’s Cathedral into an institute that would lecture citizens on the many failings of the Crusades, and the dangers of unchecked religious power.”
Jessica Bowers is the daughter of a tycoon who owns several of the culinary institutions in and around London. She dons the appearance of the ideal lady that her father wants to be while coming up with a myriad of excuses as to why she can't be married yet. Rather than indulging in the typical pursuits of a young lady, she is more enamored by the intrigue and machinations of two certain gentlemen.
“Of course. You've been darting in and out of London as of late. No doubt being a blighter elsewhere.”
“You have got to stop reading all those lecherous romance novels. The women in those would fare better if they used their heads a little more.”
“You’re going to leave without eating the rest of your favorite tea cakes?”
Hercules is the founder and leader of Eye of The Mound. It is often said the only thing greater than his intellect is his ego. He seeks to bully and intimidate those who challenge him and sweet talk those who he deems useful to him. He is selfish at his core and cares little for that which doesn't directly benefit him.
“No need for that, dear Perseus. I heard the entire exchange. My decision has already been made.”
“Well then, without further ado, I hereby announce that I will see Dimitri’s prospective new member.”
Edward Howard is the head of the Howard estate. A true-to-life "self-made man" who, having made a fortune from the Atlantic Slave Trade, rose up through the social ranks to stand with the elite of society, He is a man very angry at the world -- the type to never forgive a slight against himself or his name. Cunning and ruthless, the only soft spot to the jaggedness of his persona is his family, with the prosperity of his lineage being his main driving force.
(barely-contained rage)“You deaf git! How dare you ignore me.”
“Silence, Thomas! I did not grant you permission to speak. You neither see nor understand anything!”
“I rue that my own son insists that I learn the name of his ‘assistant’. I had hoped that he would have outgrown the novelty of you and yours and would instead focus on his familial obligations by now.”
Extras, extras, get your extras! In all seriousness, backgrounds are the important component that completes any project. But as the characters tend to be one and done's. I want to see what you imagine for them, as their spontaneity is a time to have some fun!
Note: You might not get an immediate role in the first part, but you will be in the script at some point, and depending on circumstances, you may become a character of greater relevance.
For multiple takes you can either redo the same line, or a different line with the same prompt. The choice... is yours!
Improv for a thief.
Improv for a waiter.
Improv for an adoring fan.
A co-writer to assist with cleaning the script.
General knowledge on creative script writing is the only real requirement.
