As a crusader, Darkness initially presents herself with an aura of pride and nobility, preaching about her duty to shield others from harm. She speaks in a very serious tone of voice and often comes off as very mature.

However, her true character is that of a masochistic pervert. While she does want to protect others, her masochistic urges are what ultimately drive her to commit many of her “heroic” acts. Masochism is far from her only deviant sexual inclination; she also demonstrates submission (a running gag being her responding to Kazuma’s sharp insults by reeling back in pleasure), wet and messy fetishism, and exhibitionism. Throughout the story, she becomes progressively more open about her true intentions, to the point where she blatantly reveals her reason for becoming a crusader was in hopes of being sexually tortured by the Devil King, and that her ideal husband is an abusive alcoholic who would force her to sell her body for money.

But while she enjoys abuse, there are a few instances where Darkness can become genuinely uncomfortable. Despite her strength and stamina, Darkness’s swordplay is utterly incompetent and she often misses targets directly in front of her, causing her to be embarrassed. One of the only types of humiliation Darkness is not okay with is being made fun of by her real name: Lalatina. Darkness becomes very uncomfortable when Kazuma sexually prepositions her, though she ultimately consents to the encounter.

Though her masochism is her most prominent trait, Darkness is a very kind and caring individual and can often be seen as the most courageous member of the party, never hesitating to put herself in harm’s way (though most of the time, she has ulterior motives). Being a devout Eris cultist, she has a strong distaste for demons and has pledged herself to protect those around her. Additionally, while she is more than willing to put herself in harm's way to satisfy her urges, she refuses to allow others to be harmed, as seen when she showed genuine anger at Beldia after he killed several adventurers, and when she rebuked Kazuma for verbally abusing Aqua.

Due in part to her consistently poor swordsmanship, Darkness shows extreme, almost childlike excitement when met with opponents she's able to hit.

Clumsy and forgetful at times, Wiz is a kind and caring young woman despite preconceptions with being a lich. She is very innocent and meek and apologizes quite frequently, making her a target for bullying by Aqua or Vanir and with Beldia constantly throwing his head under her skirt, but eventually even they start treating her with more respect once they spend more and more time with her. The townspeople, though, have tremendous respect and confidence in her. Wiz is usually gentle and polite, yet can be serious and mature, acting like a big-sister figure. She is also hopeless with money and business. Her shop hasn't had a single profitable month since it first opened in the City of Axel, mostly because it sells items that are seemingly useful but have negative side effects or endgame-level equipment despite being located in a town for beginning adventurers.

Before she became a lich, Wiz was very strong-willed and very competitive, but also very compassionate and willing to sacrifice herself to save her comrades by becoming a lich. She used to be somewhat wrathful and ruthless, but she was still a very nice and altruistic young woman who fought against the Devil King's army so she could help other people.

The only way to get Wiz angry is by harming the innocent, as the only reason she became a Devil King general in the first place was just so the Devil King's army wouldn't harm any bystanders, and once she found out that fellow Devil King general Hans had murdered a bystander, she immediately dropped all pretence of neutrality and started fighting him.

Eris is a goddess role model: kindly, polite, industrious and noble. She always treats everyone with respect and empathy. However, due to her polite behavior, Eris is also a very acquiescent, especially to those above her rank, like her veteran Aqua. For such reason, she can't impose order and is easly intimidated and coerced by her veteran, even letting herself being overworked by doing their both jobs.

Vanir is characterized by his eccentric behavior, usually talking a theatrical and archaic manner, speaking in a honest, direct, self-enhancing and eloquent way. He's very lively and it's common Vanir let out an evil laugh when he feels joy or fulfillment. Vanir usually refers to himself as "moi" and prefer being called "sir".

As demon who feed on people's ill feelings as shame, rage, jealousy and disappointment, Vanir always tries to extract this emotions from everybody around in every available opportunity, often using his abilities to expose those people's hidden feelings and secrets as teasing. It is also common Vanir playing pranks and fueling misunderstanding in order to extract such feelings.

Because of the fact Vanir sees humans as a mere food source, but since he doesn't enjoy emotions like despair, Vanir tries to stay on good terms with them, and even acts as an exemplar citizen, often gossiping with old ladies, enforcing the trash dumping rules and driving away crows from the dumpsters.
