Jitsu wa Watashi wa: Comic Dub
Project Overview
What is this?
A fandub of the classic romance manga, Jitsu wa Watashi wa/My Monster Secret, or more aptly a fandub of the first 60 page(Well, a little less but who's counting) chapter to act as a proof of concept going into the new year.
I hope to adapt a work near and dear to my heart into a semi-motion comic format with an english dub. When complete, i will be uploading the project to my youtube channel, linked in bio as well as sharing it across a number of sites online including reddit and tumblr.
No Meme, What is this manga?
Well, like i said earlier, trite hypothetical question asker, Jitsu wa Watashi wa is a Romanting comedy manga by the wonderfull Eiji Masuda, set in a Japanese Highschool. The Story follows the simple Asahi Kuromine, a young boy with the unfortunate inability to hide his feelings, as he tries to confess to his crush, the aloof Shiragami Youko, only to discover that she's been a vampire keeping her true natue a secret. Hilarity ensues as they try to keep the secret, live a full school life, and find love in eachother through a motley of supernatural shenanigans.
All in all, a fun, clumsy, one of a kind vampire romantic comedy!
Requirements/Reccomendations:
- A hobby grade mic apable of recording your performance without picking up overwhelming background noises or excessive peaking/clipping.
- The ability to clean your own audio.
- Discord is not required, but it is recommended to ease communication.
Final Notes:
1.) Part of why i'm putting this project together is to work on my own skills, and as such I'll be submitting my own auditions alongside everyone else who wishes to participate- I DO NOT EXPECT YOU TO TRY AND IMITATE MY TAKE.
Each role will have the suggested guidance and ideal performance parameters I have in mind for each character, but the beauty of acting is taking the same premise or direction and presenting it with your own unique flair.
2.) Anything in italics down below is NOT to be read when you're auditioning for various parts- this text exists solely to give context to the lines you will be reading.
3.) PLEASE DO NOT SLATE YOUR AUDITIONS
4.) As i've said above, this is ulitmately a proof of concept. As such i make no guarentees to continue working on the project past chapter 1, and consequently i hold no expectation for you to reprise your cast role if you have no interest, in the case that the project does continue.

Significance: Lead
Youko is the heroine of the story. A Secret Half-Vampire who wants to enjoy her normal school life to the fullest.
She usually appears cool and mysterious on the surface, but is in actuality very loveable and goofy. WIth a loose grasp on many concepts of normal and city living, having only lived isolated in the country side with her parents.She speaks in a Kansai Dialect, My personal preference in representing this is with an American Southern accent, however i'm open to alternate interpretations.

*Spoken to herself, think of the feeling you have when you get to stretch your legs after a long car ride*"Phew! It's, like, so totally true. An empty classroom's THE place to stretch out your wings! Ha ha!"
*potent embarrassment* "Nnnnggh! When i talk like myself, i get carried away and my fangs pop out. That's why i don't say much and try to use polite words and stuff."
*Holding back sadness. a little dissapointed* "I didn't expect, like, a friendly goodbye. Sooo... Kuromine-kun.. thanks. Besides, If you ask me... I'm definitely happy enough with the school life i got.""
Significance: Lead
Asahi is the protagonist of the manga. An expressive, kind hearted, if at times cowardly, young man who has trouble hiding his emotions. He has a tendency to easily reveal secrets earning him the nickname "Holey sieve" [Blame the translators for the name, not me] but is fully commited to keeping Youko's real identity hidden. He thoughts also make up the majority of narration in the script.

*Fully believing in the bit, should be a bit giddy* "Heh heh heh. I'm not the man i once was... I'm not the same Kuromine Asahi! NO ONE will be able to tell what i'm really thinking now! Not with Glasses!"
*Narration/Internal thoughts, He's psyching himself up to confess while at the same time contextually building to a reveal.* "Everyone has secrets. It's only narutal, right? It's Common! Like someone hiding the fact that they're a little different from other people... So maybe THIS isn't all that unusual after all."
*Very emotional, should convey absolute sincerity* "L-listen...! I know people can read me like a book! They say i can't lie-- That i can't hide anything! But this is one secret I SWEAR i'll keep! No Matter what happens! I'll die with it!! So... Please."
Significance: Supporting
Okada Kanade is the most primary of Asahi's friends. A mostly cool and cocky type who enjoys mocking his friends, but does genuinely care about them, and can get goofy when the bit calls for it. He serves as a lynchpin for the plot, being the one who convinces Asahi to confess his feelings to Youko.

*Very boisterous almost shouting, taking it serious in a sarcastic way* "Don't tell me you forgot, Asahi! The tragedy of last summer! The misery of being rejected before you even got a chance to express your love!!"
*genuinely reassuring this time* "Go for it, Asahi. We've got your back-- And we'll be here for you when it's all over."
Significance: Minor
Sakurada is one of Asahi's three friends. Despite being just a teenager, he looks and sounds like a gruff middle-aged man. Contrary to his appearance, he's something of a gentle giant and the most supportive of Asahi's friends.

Significance: Minor
Yuta is one of Asahi's three friends. Somewhat of a dipshit, he tends to be the most antagonistic of Asahi's friends. Possessing otherwise poor social skills and a perverted streak(Though not relevant in this chapter) .
