Invictus: Super Smash Bros Comic Dub
Project Overview
NOTE: This project has a variety of roles. The roles with the most lines have been placed at the top, so if you audition for them, be prepared to record a large amount of lines. We have smaller parts for those of you who would prefer it
Invictus is a webcomic created, written, and illustrated by me. It takes place in the Super Smash Brothers universe, and centers around Lucas, Ness, and Toon Link. It's a drama/action/friendship comic.
I wouldn't recommend auditioning if you are under 13. Rated PG-13. This comic includes:
-Bloodshed, Violence, and Weapon usage
-Sexual references
-Mentions of mental illness
I'd recommend reading the comic here so that you know the general story. Keep in mind, the comic isn't even nearly done yet, so it'll end pretty abruptly.
If you'd like to have a more detailed audition for a better chance at a role, here is a Google Docs document with all the information you'll need.
NOTICE: The dub will be presented in the format of a YouTube video. Any and all actors must be okay with their voice being presented there. We will make one 5-10 minute pilot episode and three 15-20 minute episodes.

15 years old, male. Lucas is shy and reserved, but can easily stand his ground and be firm when he needs to be. Sensitive, but not weak. He auditioned for Smash in place of his deceased brother, Claus. He needs to speak in a somewhat soft, whispery tone. We would prefer a male voice actor, but if you are a female who can speak in a tenor range, that's fine, too. Must be able to display a wide variety of emotions.
"Yep! Calm and collected, obviously."
"You know motorboats that just keep going and going? Yeah."
"I had to stay in some motel at a Fire Emblem game."
Link is basically a polar opposite to Lucas. He is exciting, loud, obnoxious, and hyperactive. He often speaks whatever is on his mind without thinking first, and often doesn't consider any particular volume he should be speaking in. The voice actor for Link must be able to play multiple emotions, as Link goes through a massive character change throughout the series. He needs to speak with a very noticable rasp in his voice; imagine you've swallowed sand or have been screaming for a long time and have damaged your throat. (Please don't actually do this!) A male or female can voice Link, with no particular vocal requirements, other than the fact that the rasp in the voice is an absolute must have.
"Woop! Sorry, Buster! I didn't see you!"
"Okay, okay. Just don't show yourself, okay?"
"Heh...just talking to myself!"
Ness is outgoing, confident, and just a little crude. He isn't loud, though. He's laid back most of the time, but can get easily excited. He should speak in a tenor male pitch, we'd prefer a male who has gone through a voice break.
"I thought I could bring back what was gone."
"I mean, not to brag or anything, but..."
"We've been out here for a solid twenty minutes!"
Defect is the overall antagonist of the story. They are a virus that has been summoned by Toon Link, and though they promise to grant him power, their intentions are truly dark. They should speak in a slow, smooth, hypnotic, almost ASMR-esque voice. Their intention is to use charisma and charm to persuade Link into believing that they are his only friend. Defect, also taking on a masculine phyisique, has no specific gender, so they can be voiced by anyone. All you need is the ability to be sickly sweet and sickly twisted.
"Tch, Tch. That's troublesome, isn't it?"
"Speak of the devil."
"Just keep your guard high, love."
Virus is very similar to Defect, but less well composed and patient. They are just as charismatic and charming, but their ability to manipulate people is less good. They are the virus that infects Lucas in a freak accident. The voice actor must be okay with loud swearing and spitting their lines. Virus has a lot of anger built up inside. Virus takes on an androgynous appearance and has no specific gender, so a male or female can voice, but we recommend a male due to a reason that will be explained near the end of the story.
"You haven't the slightest idea of what happened to me, do you?"
"This was your warning, got it?"
"You're powerful. But it takes more than brawn to survive me."
Master Hand is the owner and overall "boss" of Smash. They know how important they are, and are very well aware of their authority, but are very modest about it. A very small part. Male or female is fine as Master Hand isn't exactly male or female, but we'd prefer a male with a deep, loud voice and the ability to show authority in their tone, to match their voice in the Smash games.
"I'm sorry, but you just didn't make the cut."
"Well, we could try one thing."
"You dare come into my presence and ask for this, knowing my obvious answer?"
Roy is the victim of a tragic accident, and only appears one or two times in flashbacks. However, he is a very important element to the story. In the scenes he appears in, he is regretful, bitter, and upset. Speak with a rasp similar to Link, and a spit similar to Virus. We'd prefer an adult or teenage male.
"I changed Smash, don't you understand?!"
"What're you doing here?"
It was never me, okay?
Tessie is Lucas' plus one (a character from your game that you can bring with to you Smash) and also his childhood caretaker. She is his mother figure, and they have a very close relationship. She is a very small part. We'd like a female with a sweet sounding voice, and more of a Virginian drawl to your voice. (Pen=Pien, War=Wowah, Cup=Ceup)
"My boy! My sweet boy, look at you!"
"I'm sorry, goodness. I can't seem to recognize you."
"What, y'all didn't hear?"
