InuYasha Manga Dub - 'Thunder Brothers' Arc (Chapters 28-34)
Project Overview
Requesting Voice Actors for our weekly dub of the InuYasha Manga!
This time, we're casting the major characters in the 'Thunder Brothers' arc. These characters include:
A few small scripts have been included for anyone interested in voicing very minor/background characters.
For those unfamiliar with InuYasha as a series, it begins with Kagome Higurashi, a fifteen-year-old middle school girl from modern-day Tokyo who is transported to the Sengoku period after falling into a well in her family shrine, where she meets the half-dog demon, half-human Inuyasha. After the sacred Shikon Jewel re-emerges from deep inside Kagome's body, she accidentally shatters it into dozens of fragments that scatter across Japan. Inuyasha and Kagome set out to recover the Jewel's fragments, and through their quest they are joined by the lecherous monk Miroku, the demon slayer Sango, and the fox demon Shippo. Together, they journey to restore the Shikon Jewel before it falls into the hands of the evil half-demon Naraku.
Role Information
Credits are included at the end of each episode, and we have a casting list in our Discord, and on our website.
All roles are in the English language, however they may contain some Japanese names or phrases. Pronunciation will be provided by the director but it's not extremely crucial that they're perfect, just mostly consistent with the way others say it.
In the event that you do get the role you wish for, recording is done live over Discord call. If, for any reason, you cannot comply with this, alternatives can be arranged.

Some Final Notes
1). In regards to character voices: we know the anime has a wonderful dub, and our project is not intended to replace that, but give it a new life with new voices, music, and style. As such, when it comes to voicing a character, especially one with a very unique voice (Myoga the Flea, for example), we are not looking for an imitation of their voice in the anime! It doesn’t have to be drastically different, but it should be at least distinguishable. We’re looking for unique voices that still match the characters.
2). In the audition scripts, all italics are (stage directions) or [context]. All bolds are emphasized parts of the lines (though you may add your own emphases if you want!).
3). As previously mentioned, our Discord Server is the place where we plan our chapters, deliver announcements, and distribute scripts (it's also been an incredibly useful tool for getting to know the people affiliated with the project and we've had a fair bit of fun with it). As such, though it is not required, we strongly recommend you try it out.

Young adult male voice. Preferably more mid-range, certainly less deep than Manten. Hiten is very easily angered and expressive.
[Hiten walks in on Manten, having kidnapped Kagome.] (Light-hearted, jokingly) Fear not, little brother! I will not claim her. For I have made a much better catch. (He gestures to his own woman.) Tell me, Manten... Have you yet found the other shards of the jewel?
[Manten makes an excuse for having not done so, saying "But you see, brother..."] (Still jokingly, but more threatening) What do you mean "but"? Surely you did not allow this human female to blind you and take the Shikon jewel shards... (He extremely angrily shouts this as he punches a hole through his woman's head) YOU DID NOT LET THEM GET AWAY!! You are such a waste!
[Kagome manipulates them into thinking InuYasha is in love with her and that he will give up the shards for her life. Manten suggests it may be deceit.] I can believe it. Girl! Lead us to this love-struck half-breed! (Threatening) And know, that if I find you have deceived me, then you shall find yourself with a wind hole in your lovely face. Do you understand me?
[Manten is killed before his very eyes by InuYasha, and he is incredibly angry.] (Practically screaming) MANTEN!! (He turns towards Kagome, who is holding Tetsusaiga, and threateningly shouts) YOU!!
[He rushes towards Manten, and is now more sympathetic and sad.] Manten... Manten... (He begins sobbing as he screams) NO, NO NOOO!!! NOT MANTEN... NOT MY MANTEN..! Oh, my brother... My brother... *SOB*
[He rips out Manten's heart and begins to think of revenge as he gets angrier.] I swore, my brother, to be with you... Forever... [He begins to eat Manten's heart, gaining his power. He stands up.] (Revenge is only on his mind now. He is extremely angry.) My brother... My only... Is lost... I will not let this pass. You're dead!
Preferably a deeper, harsh voice for a large, bald demon. Sort of looks like an alligator, so take that as you will with what sort of voice he might have.
[After kidnapping Kagome, she asks him if he plans to eat her] No, no, no. But it is said that new hair thrives on the flesh of a lovely maiden... (Evil and threatening) And so I will boil you down... And rub you on my head.
[She interjects that she would rather be eaten!] Shh, shh. Quieter please. If my brother finds out, then you truly shall be eaten.
[Shippo uses his top to hold down Manten, but he realizes it's only an illusion and it disappears.] Curses...Curse that little beast. (He notices the little hair he has left falling out, and is angered) Wh...? *HYPERVENTILATING* MY HAIR!! MY LAST STRAND OF HAIR...! (He tries to take revenge and angrily looks for Kagome and Shippo) WHERE ARE YOU?! (He sees them, and attacks) YOU ARE MINE!!
For background characters, North American accent preferable, anyone 14~ or older as long as you don’t sound too young, unless the character in mind is a child (Rin, for example).
For Minor Villains, any accent is welcome, as it might add a certain spin or uniqueness to the character that the original dub may not have had.
[As a (likely male) Villain’s Henchman, delivering bad news about their defeat] (Disappointed but Urgent) Boss - bad news! They’re getting away with the Jewel, and they killed 30 of our men! Please don’t be mad...
[As one of Kagome’s girl-friends upon hearing more news about Inuyasha] (Surprised, Swoon) Really? He seems like such a baddie! It’s a shame you seem to hate him so much, haha! And what’s that whole thing with the other guy, the one you said was his brother? Didn’t you say he tried to kill you?!
[As a random background villager (any gender) pointing out the threat at hand to our main characters] (Shouting, Afraid) Look! It’s a youkai [or demon]! He’ll kill us all!
Wow, that hanyou [or half-demon] just killed it with a single blow! And did you see his sword? This guy’s powerful!
