Inuyasha Manga Dub - 'Spider Head' & 'Kikyo's Revival'
Project Overview
Requesting Voice Actors for our weekly dub of the InuYasha Manga!
This time, we're casting the major characters in the 'Spider Head' and ‘Kikyo’s Revival’ arcs (chapters 39-50). These characters include:
A few small scripts have been included for anyone interested in voicing very minor/background characters.
For those unfamiliar with InuYasha as a series, it begins with Kagome Higurashi, a fifteen-year-old middle school girl from modern-day Tokyo who is transported to the Sengoku period after falling into a well in her family shrine, where she meets the half-dog demon, half-human Inuyasha. After the sacred Shikon Jewel re-emerges from deep inside Kagome's body, she accidentally shatters it into dozens of fragments that scatter across Japan. Inuyasha and Kagome set out to recover the Jewel's fragments, and through their quest they are joined by the lecherous monk Miroku, the demon slayer Sango, and the fox demon Shippo. Together, they journey to restore the Shikon Jewel before it falls into the hands of the evil half-demon Naraku.
Role Information
Credits are included at the end of each episode, and we have a casting list in our Discord, and on our website.
All roles are in the English language, however they may contain some Japanese names or phrases. Pronunciation will be provided by the director but it's not extremely crucial that they're perfect, just mostly consistent with the way others say it.
In the event that you are cast for the role you want, recording is done live over Discord call. If, for any reason, you cannot comply with this, alternatives can be arranged.

Some Final Notes
1). In regards to character voices: we know the anime has a wonderful dub, and our project is not intended to replace that, but give it a new life with new voices, music, and style. As such, when it comes to voicing a character, especially one with a very unique voice (Myoga the Flea, for example), we are not looking for an imitation of their voice in the anime! It doesn’t have to be drastically different, but it should be at least distinguishable. We’re looking for unique voices that still match the characters.
2). As previously mentioned, our Discord Server is the place where we plan our chapters, deliver announcements, and distribute scripts (it's also been an incredibly useful tool for getting to know the people affiliated with the project and we've had a fair bit of fun with it). As such, though it is not required, we strongly recommend you try it out.

Nazuna is a young orphan somewhere between the ages of 11-14. She is compassionate and loyal, but sometimes rash.
[InuYasha catches her as she is falling in the beginning of the chapter.] (Out of breath, grateful.)Th... Thank you for saving me... From that horrible... [She sees his ears and realizes that InuYasha is also a demon.] (She hits him as she jumps out of his arms.) D- Demon begone!!
[Shippo asks her why she is disrespecting the person who saved her from falling.] (Angered, shouting) Shut up! I know a demon when I see one! And all I can feel for a demon... Is hatred.
[Kagome is asking about the demon who Nazuna was fighting earlier.] They call it "Spider Head". It's lived on the mountain since spring, and it's not the only one. They take the heads of their victims... And weave their nests in the corpses. They've killed many people already...
[She begins to walk away and Kagome asks her to stay.] I'm going home. (Sarcastic) I wouldn't put myself in a demon's care if my life depended on it!
Spider Head disguises himself as the master of a temple and takes on a human form. During this time, he will sound more normal, like a regular old monk. But when he turns back into a demon, his voice should be deeper, more menacing, and intimidating. In both forms, he speaks with an Old English dialect (Thy/thou/thee, wouldst, etc).
[The main cast meet him after having saved Nazuna. Posing as a human, he feigns gratefulness.] (Humbly asking as thanks) Please, I ask you, will you not be our guests for but one night? (To Nezuna) Go, child, and prepare a repast. [She leaves.] The child is ungrateful... But we must forgive her for that. Nazuna came into my care when her father, by a Spider Head, was slain. From that horrid moment onward, she can feel naught but terror of demons.
[He reveals himself as a demon, and is holding InuYasha by the throat. InuYasha figures that he was the leader of the spiders.] (Evil cackling, intimidating) Rumor told of a half-breed bearing shards of the shikon jewel in these lands... And so I lay in wait for thee, ne'er hoping that into my parlor wouldst thou step, just as thy demon power fell into eclipse!
[InuYasha breaks free and leaps toward him.] (Shouting) Fool! (Menacing) Heh heh heh... Can this body so human... Survive my venom?
[He notices InuYasha's jewel shards.] Shikon shards! What fortune... Five more centuries of life!
An elderly ogre, very wicked and greedy, and craving power. Her voice might be rather deep and menacing, perhaps like an elderly Maleficent.
[While reviving Kikyo from her ashes] (Evil cackles followed by an intimidating voice.) Come, child. Don't keep an old lady waiting. (Cackles lightly.) Oh, my child of earth and bones... I have so much for you to do.
[The fire stops as the mold of a body is revealed.] (Triumphant cackling.) You're coming out quite nicely, child... Earth and bones married in perfect harmony... Their union blessed by a magic kiln. [She breaks open the mold to reveal a revived Kikyo.] Hehehe.. Lady Kikyo... Welcome back.
For background characters, North American accent preferable, anyone 14~ or older as long as you don’t sound too young, unless the character in mind is a child.
For Minor Villains, any accent is welcome, as it might add a certain spin or uniqueness to the character that the original dub may not have had.
[As a (likely male) Villain’s Henchman, delivering bad news about their defeat] (Disappointed but Urgent) Boss - bad news! They’re getting away with the Jewel, and they killed 30 of our men! Please don’t be mad...
[As one of Kagome’s girl-friends upon hearing more news about Inuyasha] (Surprised, Swoon) Really? He seems like such a baddie! It’s a shame you seem to hate him so much, haha! And what’s that whole thing with the other guy, the one you said was his brother? Didn’t you say he tried to kill you?!
[As a random background villager (any gender) pointing out the threat at hand to our main characters] (Shouting, Afraid) Look! It’s a youkai [or demon]! He’ll kill us all!
Wow, that hanyou [or half-demon] just killed it with a single blow! And did you see his sword? This guy’s powerful!
