Into the Vanessaverse Pilot Script
Project Overview
(All roles have been filled! For those of you chosen, welcome! For those who weren't, don't fret! It was such a challenge choosing the best voices for each character, and I'm very pleased with your hard work and thank you for taking a chance on this project. With any luck, we'll be borrowing your voices for the future, so keep an eye out!)
The rift to the Vanessaverse is open--and we need your voice!
This is a passion project that would hopefully lead to something more, a pilot script to an eventual IP I've been formulating, Into the Vanessaverse--a dimension-hopping, absurd, cosmic horror/comedy about an eldritch witch and her nerdy mortal friend having conflicting definitions of fun, and the many weird found family members and scheming villains they face in their travels. It's an adult-oriented romp of chaos with the general message of embracing the insanity and living life and its many possibilities to their fullest.
So far, we have the initial script finished, and our goal is to have voice actors record them for at least a storyboard animatic to judge reception. As such, and due to the experimental nature of this project, the roles are unpaid and voluntary. I want to be up front with that one. If the stars align and this IP gets picked up, that may very well change.
Enclosed in this role call is a copy of the pilot script for your perusal. We have five major roles to fill, plus a couple of incidentals. Feel free to read through and find a character you enjoy that you'd love to voice. Pluck out a few lines from the script to tackle--or ad-lib and go completely off the cuff. Quote a copypasta, be silly, whatever you want. Just have fun with the role.
Characters we're looking for include:
Vanessa: The titular eldritch witch. Seductive, experienced, casual. She's lived for eons and it shows. She's always looking for the next big exciting thing in mortal ingenuity. Possible examples include Eda Clawthorne (The Owl House).
Bolt Faraday: Optimistic and creative half-cat, half-cyborg. Inventor that serves up smiles for those in need, and always has a cheerful tone, except when she has to keep up with Vanessa's nonsense and Agent's doormat behavior.
Amy: A small mouse-girl, also an inventor, but far less sure of herself. Hesitant, stuttering, quick to fright, but otherwise very sweet and kind when not terrified. Couldn't hurt a fly. Possible examples included Fluttershy (My Little Pony franchise)
Merula: Vanessa's self-styled rival in magic. A haughty, image-obsessed narcissist in a slightly different way to Vanessa's own narcissism. Suffers from major rich girl syndrome.
Don Cristobal: Don of the Magic Mafia, a man that suffers from a severe Napoleon Complex. Short in stature and in temper, but is quietly intelligent in surprising ways. Directly inspired by Joe Pesci's roles in most films and roles.
Keep in mind these suggestions are just that--suggestions. If you have a better direction, by all means, share it. Variety is the spice of life, as is the theme of this show.

For those willing to play the role of the seductive, chaotic witch Vanessa. Applicants are requested to speak in a mature tone, but not necessarily in a mature way. She's seen it all and done it all, so even the weirdest and most outlandish comments can be made casual.

For those wishing to play the cyborg cat, Bolt Faraday. She's always cheerful, always looking for the next big idea to help others improve themselves, while trying to progress beyond the need for mere flesh herself. Her tone should be friendly, supportive, inquisitive.

For those willing to play the shy and meek mouse Amy. She's sweet and kind, but just cannot cope with social experiences on her own. Fortunately her friends can support her. She may stutter and have trouble speaking up, however.

For those willing to play Vanessa's rival, Merula. A woman of class, she engages in petty exchanges to demonstrate her superiority over the gothic witch. She's a rich girl, with all the attitude that entails.

For those aiming to play the role of the primary villain, Don Cristobal. Don is a short man with a shorter temper, and a tendency to let his emotions get the better of him. When calm, he can be rather intelligent and thoughtful...until it eventually explodes. Directly based off of Joe Pesci.

This wound up getting ahead of us, so we're looking for a talented storyboard artist at least to get things rolling. If you're an animator, even better!
The ideal applicant would be able to make digestible and consistent designs based on the general depictions of the characters and their personalities. Payment negotiable, I know this is a big ask.
