INDESTRUCTIBLE---SOMMERS STILL NEEDED

INDESTRUCTIBLE---SOMMERS STILL NEEDED

Project Overview

HIGH QUALITY MIC REQUIRED -- MORE CHARACTERS TO BE ADDED SOON.
THIS PROJECT WILL START ONCE ALL NEEDED ROLES ARE FILLED---THE DEADLINE IS A FORMALITY.

Let me officially start off by saying that this project will not only require you to be comfortable throwing around f-bombs like it's just another Sunday at home getting your butt kicked on Call of Duty, it will also require you to be able to pour appropriate emotions into such words when necessary, be it screaming them in the midst of a battle, or what have you.
This is also a highly politically-relevant project with multiple viewpoints involved, some you may or may not agree with, based off of issues (and people) that we see in our lives today. I ask that any members who are cast do their best to stay in the mindset of their character.

Okay, so imagine a world where all of the horrible things about humanity that all of your favorite fight-the-power bands have tried to warn you about. World hunger is at an all-time high, natural disasters have become commonplace with ecosystems entirely out of balance, capitalism and the society of the consumer have broken down, and now money doesn't bring with it the power and security that it used to. Most importantly, though, 'rights' have become privileges that the new world order can and will take away if you try to resist its governance.

This story (told in the form of a comic) was originally going to be an origin story for Disturbed's mascot 'The Guy,' but it has since transformed into a post-apocalyptic tale of Earth, with its people in desperate need of inspiration.

As all of the comic's episodes thus far are based off of Disturbed's album 'Indestructible,' The Guy will be the main protagonist for *quite* a while, but the story will involve characters from all genres of music---not just rock and metal.
This will be a fairly long-running project, as I have other albums planned (and I'm also doing all of the art myself), but I suppose it depends on the popularity of the story as a voice-over project as to just how long it runs.

Role assigned to: darrell-h

English accent preferred.

Eddie is a highly-respected figurehead of the resistance, even amongst his more brash comrades. He is often referred to as 'Pops,' by those that work closely with them.
He can be incredibly calculating, professional, downright dapper...but he can also be absolutely, violently insane.

I imagine his speaking voice as significantly older than most of the other musical icons he works with, with a bit of a rasp.

He is more reserved in his use of vulgar language.

  • "(David approaches him with the child he rescued) Incorrigible. You are incorrigible, David. What are we to do with such a mouse? Feed it cheese? Make a little labrinth and let it run? I don't suppose it knows how to reload a gun, or wield a machete."

  • (Give me your best insane laugh, as if you were gunning down assailants whilst riding upon a tank)"

  • "(over radio) You’d do well to practice a little patience—it takes a considerable amount of time to change the course of direction of a tank, KC."

Any Offspring fans in the house?

Pickens is a bit clumsy and unsure of himself.

Sometimes his actions seem reckless, but they are often the result of his thoughts racing too quickly while under pressure. He attempts to compensate for his weakness by over-thinking, which often gets him into even more trouble.

Despite his flaws, however, he's ever-confident in his judgement of right and wrong, and possesses a very determined fighting spirit.

For his voice...I'm not entirely sure what I want. I'd like someone obviously younger than David or KC, someone capable of being both soft-spoken and confident when the need arises.

A nerd-ish edge would be nice, since he mans air crafts and counts as the team's main technical specialist, but I don't want an overwhelming stereotypical high-school-nerd voice.

  • "(sarcastically, holding back sheer terror) 'Get the survivors to safety,' they said. Don't worry about the army of flying metal giants that could probably annihilate you with just the wind current from a single rear thruster.... (shudders)"

  • "(over radio **effects to this degree would be appreciated**) Closing in on your location, boss!"

  • "If I'd given up even ONCE when I failed, I wouldn't be here. I'd be dead. And if not from a battle, or my plane exploding into a fiery black hole, I'd've done it myself."

Alyssa is a vocal powerhouse, who can both scream and sing.

I won't expect you to be able to do both in order to play her, however.

If you can imitate her actual speaking voice major props, however that will also not be necessary.

She usually appears with Angela, as in the comic they share a divine Sisters-of-Fate role.

  • "Through the battlefield of life, it's kill...or be killed."

  • "There will come a day, not so far away, when the hunter (chuckles) becomes the prey."

  • "(give me a sample of your vocal range with a song of your choice, with or without music---Alyssa has a soprano2 to alto range)"

The Guy's working name for casual conversation in the comic is David, after David Draiman, Disturbed's frontman.

I imagine his voice with a raspy/gravelly/growly undertone, like two people are speaking at once, and one of them happens to be a demon. Feel free to use effects for that.

The growl gets more prominent as his emotional state is heightened, so when morose or filled with fiery rage, the growl pretty much takes over.

David also has an internal monologue throughout the comic, and for this voice I imagine it's primarily normal, with just tiny flecks of the growl peeking through.

He is calm for the most part, able to calculate his actions, but occasionally he succumbs to heavy emotions and can be reckless during these phases.

Again, he cusses like an angry sailor, so please be aware of that before you audition.

  • (talking to a frightened child) You don't have to be afraid of me. I may look scary, but I'm not like the bad guys.

  • (rage building) I wouldn't do that if I were you.

  • (internally) They're surrendering. They've been beaten down so hard theyre finally surrendering We can't let this happen. We can't let them down.

This is 'Knucklehead' from Five-Finger Death Punch. David gave him the nickname 'KC,' for reasons which cannot be explained here due the the 'family-friendly' clause of this site. The nickname stuck, much to Knucklehead's dismay.

He is highly temperamental, prone to explosive emotional outbursts (primarily anger) and seems to cool off just as quickly as he lights up.

I imagine his voice as higher than David's, still with a slight rasp, but moreso in a chain-smoker-I-scream-at-people-for-a-living sort of way. Be creative.

KC also cusses more than David due to his extreme emotions, so the actor should be more comfortable with both casual and emotive expletives. He has a unique 'bro' rapport with David, despite how they get on each other's nerves.

  • (talking to David over a walkie-talkie *effects to that degree would be appreciated*) D-man, I held him off for as long as I could. Pops said it's time to use the big guns. We'll be overwhelmed if we don't do something.

  • We've got losers at the docks, and the goon-squad cavalry picking off our heads in the western end of the city.

  • The HECK do you need a TECH for?! How about some tea and crumpets for your little party?! Have you told her you're both about to die, or is that why you're CELEBRATING?!

(Drawing Forthcoming)

All soldiers wear gas-mask contraptions, so auditions should try to reflect that.

Age: 22-23

Sommers is a very, very volatile character. As a front-line military soldier, he's seen a lot of destruction.

He's *caused* a lot of destruction. I should go ahead and get this explanation out of the way---in this world setting, troops are trained young. Too young, in most cases.

His actions and his time in service have left him heavily emotionally scarred.

His actor should be comfortable with battle cries, screams, and convincing sobs.

  • "(into radio, hesitantly, with mask) Possible rebel trap here, main street, east side, residential…requesting backup."

  • "(voice breaking, without mask) I wanted to protect people, from terrorists, from evil---I wanted to keep my family safe."

  • "(screaming, highly emotional, without mask) I DIDN’T WANT TO BE EVIL."

Role assigned to: theundertaker316

Cindy is an homage to Korn's Follow the Leader album. She has a fairly large role for the first comic, and appears throughout the series frequently.

She is American, six years old. Because she is so young, she doesn't have a concept of death, starvation, war--all of the things that are plaguing this world.

As she is quite innocent, her player will only have to worry about vulgarities in a curious, comical way---there will be little to none in her lines.

  • "(in response to David asking her if she's seen the 'bad men') Mhm. They wear all black---they have scary yellow eyes, like bugs."

  • "(tearing up) No… Lying is what bad people do."

  • "(said through tiny sobs) Mommy was crying, and screaming---and it was dinnertime but Daddy didn’t come home."

Should sound official, like an authority figure.

  • "You there! Kid! Out of our way!"

  • "Didn’t your parents tell you what happens to bad children who resist?"

  • "Sommers, radio Squad three."

Rolling back restrictions for Angela.

For Angela I need a lower-pitched female voice.
Think seductive devil-type.

  • Brackenridge may be small, but several of Pittsburgh's surrounding towns have been used as storage compounds for the military outpost there.

  • (deviously, confidently) When we win this one, we'll have hit a veritable goldmine of supplies.

  • *chuckles slightly* We do not fail.
