I’m an American Part-Time Worker

Project Overview

Hello! My name is Charlatan Steward. I am the director and scriptwriter of “I’m an American Part-Time Worker” and the creator of Liminal Bureau Studios. This is one of my first projects and my first time directing a series. I do have to say this is a deferred project, which means team members will not be able to gain money until it is published and the pilot gains revenue on YouTube. Shortly after the pilot is launched, a Kickstarter will be initiated, depending on the popularity gained. Team members must safely promote the pilot with friends, family members, public communities (without breaking any rules), and pets. Make sure to include pets.

I’m an American Part-Time Worker” is a surreal, dark comedy, absurd psychological horror web series written and directed by Charlatan Steward. The story follows the employees of a simulation inside a computer in Montgomery, done by the CIA as a protocol for felons and traitors to the government called “The Void”. Inside the simulation, they manage an unknown, colorless reality, where millions of crazy, deranged, and isolated traitors remain punished.

The protagonists, Sosna and Vivienne, have a job to maintain the simulation from the inside and evade going insane, without even realising that they are traitors to the government, too.

As the story goes on, we find that things weren’t all fun and games after all.

The humor is awkward, dry, and sometimes horror-based, aimed at a teen to adult audience with a PG-13 tone. There is a clear emotional contrast and trope (Grumpy X Sunshine). Vivienne is harsh, stubborn, and grounded, while Sosna is more sensitive, energetic, and naive.

Visually, the series combines smooth animation with a glossy, shiny, realistic, technological aesthetic. Characters have cubic, TV-like heads with stylized screens that display their expressions. They are some sort of robot with human features. Such as simulated fat in almost every part of the body you can think of, just like humans: arms, shoulders, chest, waist, hips, thighs, legs, etc.

Sosna has a pink and blue gradient face with a screen gradient going from bubblegum bright pink to bubblegum bright blue. Her body is a white chassis with slight blue and pink accents. Her outfit is formal, with a button shirt, bowtie, pencil skirt, and Oxford shoes. She is also very shiny and polished.

Vivienne has a dark black screen with a slight gradient of crimson. She has a cracked antenna and a beret, as well as a black chassis. Her screen is cracked on the left side, making her blind in one eye. She looks older and more worn out than Sosna, who looks shinier and more polished. She wears a cropped, off-the-shoulder black blouse and black sport shorts with two white lines at the bottom, as well as some flip flops on her shoes with a cheap, rip-off logo of “Nike” spelling “Neik”. She presents herself as cold and dismissive, but holds some emotional depth left inside her. She often creates art using whatever materials she can find within the simulation. Sosna calls Vivienne Viv.

Both Sosna and Viv have tails, which are black cable cords.

FORMAT
The pilot will be 4 to 6 minutes long and will serve as an introduction to the world and characters. Future episodes may expand in length depending on available resources and team size. My target range for the future is from 8 to 12 minutes.

PLATFORM
The series will be released on YouTube and promoted through short-form content and social media, such as TikTok.

TEAM NEEDS

  • 2 animators (3D modeling, rigging, character animation, environment staging)

  • 1 artist (Storyboarding, character design, concept art, promotional posters, background design)

  • 2 voice actors (female) (Character acting, interviews, engagement with the community) [MUST BE ABLE TO SING]

  • 1 editor with sound designing skills (Piecing together scenes, color grading, visual effects, exporting final episodes)

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be 16 or older

  • Able to communicate consistently

  • Willing to commit to a long-term project

  • Open to feedback and revisions

  • Has a portfolio or previous work samples

COMPENSATION
This is a deferred project. Team members will receive a percentage of revenue if the series becomes monetized. The goal is to build a pilot, release it, and expand the project based on its performance. Pay is not guaranteed or promised, nor is the project destined to succeed, but we hope it does. We’re all here to have some joy and fun, and hopefully some money. Secondary roles, such as voice actors for side characters, will be paid significantly less and will not be able to interact with our Notion workspace or Discord server in order to follow our NDA policy.

GOAL
Create a short pilot, release it publicly, build an audience, and continue the series if it gains traction.

AGE REQUIREMENT (Important regarding previous requirements)

Team members must be 16 or older. This rule applies to everyone, no matter the role.

This is not based on judging individual maturity, but on keeping the project consistent and manageable. Working with a slightly older age range helps ensure clearer communication, more stable schedules, and a higher chance of prior experience or portfolio work.

Since this is a collaborative project with long-term goals, having a consistent baseline for availability and responsibility is important. This also avoids the need for individual “maturity checks” and keeps the process fair for everyone.
