He Who Was And Will Be
Project Overview
⚠️ VOLUNTEER 2D ANIMATION PROJECT
I’m developing a short indie sci-fi proof-of-concept trailer for a larger animated series called He Who Was and Will Be.
Current goal:
Create a cinematic ~2–5 minute trailer focused on atmosphere, visual storytelling, and experimental effects rather than constant full animation.
Story overview:
The project follows Clavius, a young man living in a future where time itself is beginning to fail. Reality glitches, people lose moments from their lives, and strange fractures begin appearing throughout the world. As visions of impossible events start bleeding into the present, Clavius and his friend Barnabas uncover something moving through the fractures: an entity known as Reaper.
Visual style:
• Stylized 2D geometric animation
• Semi-realistic proportions
• Sketch-like linework and cinematic lighting
• Heavy use of glitch effects, distortions, and symbolic imagery
• Atmospheric and experimental presentation
Planned trailer scenes:
• Distorted city visuals and time glitches
• Clavius experiencing his first displacement/vision
• Discovery of a glowing fracture in Crimson Lake
• Early construction of the prototype suit
• Fast flashes of future battles and collapsing timelines
• First reveal of Reaper/The Broken One
• Final unfinished suit activation sequence
Looking for:
• 2D animators
• FX/compositing artists
• Storyboard artists
• Background artists
• People interested in experimental indie animation
Important:
This is currently an unpaid volunteer collaboration/project. All contributors will receive full credit and priority consideration for paid roles if funding is secured later.
The goal is to create a polished short trailer capable of attracting a larger audience, future collaborators, and eventual funding.
DM if interested.
