Harry Potter TAS Casting Call # 3

Project Overview

Here's the third casting call for Harry Potter: The Abridged Series. This one will focus on secondary characters who will (for the most part) appear consistently throughout the entire series. I'm still looking for auditions in my first two casting calls, so feel free to go to those as well.

For those who didn't see the first two casting calls, Harry Potter: The Abridged Series is a satire of the Harry Potter films created with Microsoft Powerpoint. I have already completed all eight installments, and I wish to put them up on YouTube (non-profit). I'd like to add voices to accompany the characters' speech balloons. All I recommend is a high-quality recording, and a semi-believable European accent (unless you possess a real one, in which case, go right ahead).

EDIT: I realize that I've delayed the deadline several times now. I've been busy working on the series among other things. Getting a series like this off the ground is a long process, and I am thankful for everyone who has auditioned.

Role assigned to: Gabi King

Installments: All except for Deathly Hallows Part 1

Professor McGonagall, like in the movies, is very uptight towards the rules. While genuinely a good and caring teacher, she can be very strict. There are a few moments in the series where she defies the rules, usually in regards to a character she knows doesn't deserve to be protected by them. In terms of voice, I'm looking for a Scottish accent a bit on the older side.

  • Sorcerer's Stone: Attention, students. What I have here is the Sorting Hat. It shall decide what house you are to be placed into. You will be placed into either Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Slytherin, or the other one.

  • Goblet of Fire: Perhaps your son actually deserved some form of punishment, Mr. Malfoy.

  • Deathly Hallows part 2: (Excited) I've always wanted to use that spell!

Role assigned to: curtis

Installments: All

Neville is not too much of a departure from the movies in this series. He's somewhat awkward at the start, but by the end of the series, he gains courage. Like the other child characters, his voice starts out young and grows more mature as the series progresses.

  • Sorcerer's Stone (young voice): (Timidly) Well if you don't take me with you, I'm going to tell on you!

  • Goblet of Fire (medium-ranged voice): Maybe I shouldn’t have given her Bertie Bott’s Every Flavor Beans. But since I’m such a wiz at Herbology, a bouquet of get-well flowers should be easy.

  • Order of the Phoenix (matured voice): (Surprised) Bellatrix Lestrange! You're the witch who tortured my parents into insanity!

Installments: All except for Deathly Hallows Part 1

Like Seamus, Dean is a bit more prominent in this series than he is in the movies. He's generally a positive character who has high moral values. I'm not looking for a sterotypical black voice in the slightest. However, for authenticity's sake, I feel like it would be best if a black person auditioned for this role. I'm not trying to be exclusive, I'm just trying to get around a touchy subject.

  • Chamber of Secrets (young voice): I hate prejudice like that. He has no right to say that to Hermione.

  • Goblet of Fire (medium-ranged voice): (Reassuringly) Hey, don't worry about it, Neville. You just have to go about it smoother.

  • Half-Blood Prince (matured voice): (Slightly offended) You guys DO remember I'm your roommate, right?

Installments: All

Several of the side characters from the Harry Potter movies will get more of a focus in this series, and Seamus is one of them. Seamus serves as another comic relief character, mostly due to the explosions he causes. I'm looking for somebody who can pull off an Irish accent. Like the other child characters, his voice matures over the series, but it should always be a bit on the high side.

EDIT: I've given this role to my brother.

  • Chamber of Secrets (young voice): Quiet, guys, someone's coming!

  • Goblet of Fire (medium-ranged voice): Why is it that all of us relevant characters always choose to sit near each other despite being in different years?

  • Order of the Phoenix (matured voice): (Irritated) You know, Potter, some of us almost didn't make it back this year. My mum didn't want me returning after hearing your claims that You-Know-Who is back. Do you know how that makes me feel?

Role assigned to: miren2k

Installments: All except for Deathly Hallows part 1

Filch is constantly grumpy and depressed. The only thing that he really cares about is his cat, Mrs. Norris. However, when Umbridge comes along, he becomes somewhat goofy in his attempts to win her affection. His voice should be generally disgusted and brooding.

  • Half-Blood Prince: Professor Slughorn! I found this one sneaking about the corridors!

  • Chamber of Secrets: (Worried) I don’t care about that! What’s going to become of Mrs. Norris?

  • Deathly Hallows part 2: (Upset) Students out of bed! Students in the corridors!

Role assigned to: shaunisspaced

Installments: All except for Deathly Hallows part 1

Professor Flitwick should have a high elf-like voice. Like Dumbledore, he will change appearance in the Prisoner of Azkaban, but that won't do anything to his voice.

  • Sorcerer's Stone: To make the feather float, you must say ‘Wingardium Leviosa.’

  • Order of the Phoenix: Anyways, class, why don’t I tell you about the time I pinned down a giant?

Professor Quirrell

Role assigned to: bluebadger

Installments: Sorcerer's Stone

Professor Quirrell is the only non-reoccuring character in this casting call. However, since he plays a pivotal role in Sorcerer's Stone, I'm putting him on here. Professor Quirrell is very neurotic and stutters a lot. However, the voice actor must be able to cover a wide range of emotions in a later scene once he is revealed to be evil.

(Please let it be better than my voice in the preview.)

  • Sorcerer's Stone: Wh-why, its Harry p-p-p-Potter!

  • Sorcerer's Stone: (Distraught) Troll! There's a troll! In the dungeon!

  • Sorcerer's Stone: (Malevolently) Brace yourself, Harry Potter! Nothing you’ve learned in my class has prepared you for this!
