Goosebumps Special #1: Stay Out Of The Basement
Project Overview
This is a video adaptation of the Goosebumps Book, Stay Out Of The Basement. It is an adaptation, so it will have changes, but this is the main story. Every since his wife died, Dr. Becker fell into a depression, and devoted all his time into his work. His daughter, Macy, notices changes going on with him however. He spends all day in the basement, working in his lab, and warning her to stay out. One day, Dr. Becker's eldest daughter, Georgia, comes over to the house to stay the summer. She hasn't seen them since her first year of college, and since her mother died. Whenever she arrives however, Dr. Becker's tenancies escalate. He wears a baseball cap around the house to conceal his hair, he has sap coming from his wounds, he's growing mold on his face, and Macy even sees him drink an entire bottle of Bleach. Macy and Georgia need to find out what has happened to their father, and it's clear, their answers are in the basement.
Dr. Becker is a man who cares deeply for his kids. He gives them silly nicknames, and loves them. Whenever his wife dies however, he falls into a bit of a depression, obsessing over his work of being a scientist that deals with plants. He has a plant lab in his basement, and it very protective over it. One day, some plant molecules mix with his blood and it creates a Plant Copy. This Plant Dr. Becker ties Real Dr. Becker up and conceals him away in a back room. He then poses as Dr. Becker, but his plant like tenancies get the best of him. He is sinister, and cold to his children. Always focused on his work, and is a threatening presence. He is manipulative, and he gaslights his kids frequently. After weird plant like anecdotes begin happening, which his kids catch on to, they eventually realize that the truth is in the basement. They go and find the Real Dr. Becker, and they kill the Plant Dr. Becker. Now that the Real Dr. Becker is back, he's happy to see his kids, and has a deep care and love for them.

Dr. Henreys was an old colleague of Dr. Becker's before he was fired. Although, he is still Dr. Becker's friend, and occasionally checks in on Dr. Becker to see how his experiments have been going. Plant Dr. Becker has him over, drugs him, and keeps him in the same room as Real Dr. Becker, tied up.

Macy is the 13 year old daughter to Dr. Becker. She has a good relationship with her sister, despite their 10 year age gap. She is a naturally curious person, which is why she's interested in her father's experiments and the basement. She is however, fearful of what her father has become. He's been acting a lot more cold to her, and having had a great relationship with him, is scared of this change. Also, when she sees Plant Dr. Becker displaying Plant-Like Tendencies, it freaks her out, and she confides in her sister, Georgia.

Georgia Becker is the older daughter to Macy Becker, and the first daughter to Dr. Becker. Since she's been off at college, she hasn't seen her father or daughter in 3 years, so she's excited to spend the summer with them and hopefully reconnect. When Plant Dr. Becker begins acting odd, she thinks that her facade of seeing Dr. Becker in a good light is slowly ending, but she refuses to believe that he is a bad person. She is a more fun, care free person, but also knows the limits she needs to abide by.

Margaret Becker isn't a big player in this story, and she's only shown in flashbacks, as she's dead. In flashbacks however, she is a caring mother, but is also overworked and tired. She loves her kids, but can get very tired from her day job. We see flashbacks of when she dies as well.
