The story takes place after Sonic 1 with Sonic becoming a star in the video game field. After this though, Sega, much like the other companies, decided to partner up Sonic with a sidekick; that being Tails. However, this version of tails was extremely clingy to sonic seeing him and only him as Sonic’s true best friend. This then led to anytime Sonic would make a new friend, they would suddenly die; with shown examples being knuckles, killed via a phone battery explosion, and shadow, killed via a short-circuit in his boots. At the end of the story, it’s revealed Tails’ was behind the killing, with his next planned killing being Amy, via tampering with her hammer. Sonic confronts Tails before he disappears after an explosion is set off.
