Gambler
Project Overview
This project is for a student-animated short film from Sheridan College. We will be running our recordings for dialogue on campus (Oakville) and as such would prefer voice actors who are in the GTA or are able to commute to Oakville.
Our Film is set inside a Japanese Casino (Pachinko Parlour). Our voice actors MUST be able to speak Japanese properly.
This story is about Japanese father's addiction to gambling,. His addiction to Pachinko leads to the neglect of his young daughter. Her efforts to connect with her father through origami is represented by a dollar bill folded into a paper crane.
As the night goes on he loses time and time again. Eventually, the only money left in his wallet is the paper crane. He uses it to start a game but instead of the game playing as normal, the crane appears inside the machine and withholds the ball from being put into play.
The film continues as he struggles with his need to gamble and the neglect it causes his daughter.
The film will probably be anywhere between 4-5 minutes long. It is going to be made with 2D (hand-drawn) animation.
The dialogue will follow both soft and intense tones in the film.

Father is our lead role and requires someone that has a "Gravelly" voice and maintains an undertone of stress and exhaustion.
The story requires him to yell and it gets emotional from time to time but he also has moments of robotic like action. Playing Pachinko over and over again. so we need someone who can play that fairly seriously too.
The Father is the main protagonist who is a Japanese Office Worker that has an addiction to gambling, specifically at Pachinko Parlours (similar to slot machines).
He works hard to provide for his family, however, his addiction runs his personal life and he must fight to free himself from it's grasp- to go home to his daughter.
