Give back - a volunteering video for a school project.

Project Overview

Give Back is a promotion video that engages teenagers aged at 14-18 to volunteer for their local community. I have to do this for my final evaluation for my GCSE Media course. My type of video is going to be a LEGO stop-motion that is quite cheesy to engage the target demographic. To do this I am going to need a few talented voice actors to achieve this. any submissions would be appreciated! This will also be uploaded to my YouTube channel :)

Bob is the main speaker in the video. He is very corny but very oblivious to the fact that he is rather annoying. He is quite a cartoony character, and a bit energetic. He needs to be quite informative but also funny at the same time. The whole point of the video is to use language that the target demographic will understand which is why he says a lot of cheesy things! He believes he is cool and this is also used to subvert the stereotype of a typical teenager, as many older adults believe teenagers nowadays are 'no good for the community.'

  • Bob: Hello, my name is cool dude yo yo Bob Skiddlelot, and I’m the best volunteer of all time! Yeah, not really, but you might be. So, today I am going to explain why you, yes you, should volunteer for your local community.

  • Volunteering helps you build confidence! Look at this comparison of me before and after doing some volunteering for my local community.

  • Well, that’s all I have for you today. I hope you enjoyed my top 5 countdown of why you, yes you, should volunteer for your local community! Peace out!! And remember, even a man made of plastic can help others in need.

Seth is someone that Bob meets during his volunteering work. He is quite similar to Bob and is a bit energetic like he is too.

  •  Bob, after we’ve finished our volunteering for the day, do you want to go to the cinema to see, The Killer Door.

  • I’m called Seth, and it looks like we’re doing the same volunteering work.

One of the points in the video is that volunteering can help you get a job. Although in this scene Bob accidentally shows the wrong clip to the audience for a bit of comedy and ends up getting shouted at by the interviewer. The Interviewer is quite a strict guy, but not too strict as it might seem a bit out of place to the audience.

  • so, let me get this straight, you volunteer at a library. And you think because of that you’ve already got enough experience to be working here At Dodgy Dan’s Barber Shop. Which by the way has nothing to do with boring old books!

In addition to the last interviewer, this one is the right clip that Bob finally shows. This interviewer is more calmer and laid back than the last one.

  •  So, you volunteer for the library! You are going to be a great inclusion to Big Barry’s Book Bargains! You’ve got the job!

This is only a 1 line role but is very nice and calm towards the volunteers.

  • I’ve got you all some biscuits to share, enjoy!
