In the sequel to my last audio play, So Long Jimmy: A hoo and Dunnett story, we see John Hoo, a Leslie Nielsen Naked Gun style detective heading over the Los Angeles whilst on sabbatical. There a tiara is stolen from a popular nightclub and it's up to him and his cousin Isabelle Didditt to solve the case. Puns galore and a very straight-laced deadpan delivery throughout, Gems is a love letter to the spoof Noire genre.

Hi all, I've had a really good response to auditions and I have some difficult decisions to be made. There are a couple of roles that don't quite have the numbers I would like. For example, I have potentially 2 out of 3 of the lounge singers and I have nothing under the police chief or the officer.
If you know people who might want in for some small roles, please share this project around as the closing date of 9th December is approaching. I will be in contact shortly after that date to discuss roles with you or if you aren't selected, perhaps suggest another one if you're interested.

Isabelle is the cousin of John. She plays the straight-laced cop who sometimes can't believe what John comes out with in the course of the investigation.

The Bartender at the club where the theft has taken place. As a bartender he is approachable and a fairly open book though doesn't like being ignored.
Because at the top of the show the tiara is unveiled and presented to one of the singers to wear for one song. It’s a great publicity piece for the club, without it, the club will fail.

The last place I worked in had a gimmick based on mining but that went under, another was based on saying yes to everything but that went on the decline
Has no name, John doesn't learn it and it's his story. He loves English culture but is constantly annoyed by John and how he seems to get the best of him throughout. Has a soft spot for Isabelle though not romantic
