Gauntlet; Animatic Short
Project Overview
Hello there! This post is a casting call for a short “concept” animatic of an oc story I’ve been working on titled Gauntlet!
If you ever grew up on anime that were, quote, “designed with the intention to sell toys to children,” then this project is for you! If you also admired how these shows had lore that would sound bizarre but rounded back around to being the coolest thing ever to you as a kid (looking at you, Moses using a Beyblade to part the Red Sea) then this project is also for you!
Gauntlet follows the story of Takeshi, who woke up one day to find himself on the mysterious Ikari Islands! With his best friends Kyoka and Makoto by his side, they were supposed learn the game of Gauntlet, and use it to defeat the evil dragon king Paradigm, who held the key to sending them home…
At least, that’s what was supposed to happen.
Takeshi failed his mission, and while Kyoka was able to vanquish the evil dragon, it is discovered that he lied about knowing a way to send them home. Eight years later, a now troubled adult Takeshi finds himself caught up in a dangerous situation with the ghost of one of Paradigm’s most loyal soldiers, Kurayami. Forced to work together, Takeshi must find a way to un-tether the spirit from himself without him being discovered by his friends. But Kura’s intentions seem to be far from good, and Takeshi can’t shake the feeling that there is more him than meets the eye.
For this animatic, I am only casting voice actors for Takeshi and Kurayami! If I feel the end result is successful, then I’d be more than happy to open more casting calls for Gauntlet in the future!
I ask that you must be 18 or older in order to audition. While this project is not paid, I do not feel comfortable having minors voice my characters at this time.
As well, you WILL be required to already have a discord account, as this will be my primary method of contacting those who get the part, and working with them to get the lines recorded.
Speaking of lines, I would like to have a bit of a quicker turnaround for completing lines as ideally the animatic will be around 2-3 minutes long at most. For turnaround times I would prefer if lines could be completed within two weeks, however I’d love to add extensions up to a month if absolutely needed!
Audition lines should be recorded using AABBCC format, and preferably in .mp3 OR .wav. If there is an alternative file type you’d like to use please contact me first!

Quiet, bitter and volatile. Takeshi is a very troubled individual after the trauma he received during the eight years he's been trapped on the Ikari Islands. He unintentionally pushes people away who only want to help him, which has left him vulnerable to bad influences like Kura.

(Sarcastic/Annoyed) Ha ha. You're so funny. Maybe next time you want to win one of my battles, you won't, oh I don't know, throw me at the rocks next time?
(Bitter) If you want to be of any help, just go away. I can get home by myself.
More commonly referred to as Kura. Charismatic, suave and manipulative, Kura is a spirit who has found himself tethered to Takeshi and unable to move onto the afterlife. At least, so he claims...
