Final Fantasy Tactics (War of the Lions) Fandub

Project Overview

I am making a fandub of the amazing, complex, rich strategy battle game Final Fantasy Tactics, first released on the PlayStation in 1997, re-released a decade later on the PSP as Final Fantasy Tactics: War Of The Lions, its script styled in Victorian English.

Please note that more roles may be added later if necessary–for now I have only included the main characters (ones who have names and who appear more than once in a cutscene). Extras can be voiced either by me, or by anybody else who volunteers.

Final Fantasy Tactics: War of The Lions
Final Fantasy Tactics (ファイナルファンタジータクティクス 獅子戦争/Fainaru Fantajī Takutikusu Shishi Sensō) is a fantasy role-playing game involving turn-based strategy and combat. The game takes place in the fictional Medieval world of Ivalice, which is torn apart by rivalry and intrigue by two power-hungry Dukes who are vying for the throne of Ivalice, but also by the equally powerful Church of Glabados, who is determined to pit both sides against one another to take advantage of the chaos and secure power for their own ideological ends.

The game tells the story of 16-year-old Ramza, the youngest son of the noble Beoulve (pronounced: Bay-olve) family, and his close friend and fellow squire, Delita Heiral. Throughout the game, Ramza navigates his way through the civil war between both armies of the White and Black Lions, held by Dukes Larg and Goltanna, a revolutionary army of peasant warriors who seek to overthrow the aristocracy who rule through repression and are indifferent to the plight of the poor, and the sinister machinations of the Church, who are secretly on a quest to assemble the 12 magical gems, known as Auracites, which are imbued with dark magic, and ressurect their long-dead master, Ultima.

The game's lore extends far beyond the parameters of any typical standalone Fantasy RPG, and is as complex as it is fascinating and enjoyable. The game explores themes such as Class Prejudice, Civil war, Politics and Intrigue, Greed, Revolution, Idealism and Reality, Nobility, Chivalry, and Friendship.

I am ideally looking for a wide variety of accents and voices (ranging from regional British dialects to American, to even Australian)–you do not necessarily need to sound exactly like the characters do in the voice-acted cutscenes. If you can put a creative and interesting spin on your audition which I am impressed with, then I will be delighted!

Bear in mind though, I will be prioritising people who have better audio equipment, and who take the auditions seriously. Joke auditions will be simply ignored.

I will also be looking for extras as well–since there are plenty of unnamed characters (squires/rogues) who have lines as well!

The youngest son of House Beoulve, and the protagonist of the game. A meek, yet honourable knight who is uncorrupted by the prejudices of the elites, and does not take a side in the conflict consuming Ivalice.

Accent: American

  • "I am a knight no longer. Just another sellsword."

  • "No... Not again. I will not watch as sacrifices are made of the weak and innocent! She will not be another Tietra!"

  • "The Beoulve name stands for truth and justice! It is not a tool to be used for selfish gain! My lord father fought and died defending our people against Ordallia in the Fifty Years' War. House Beoulve cannot now turn on its purpose and fight for the interests of a corrupt Crown and self-serving aristocracy!"

The sinister head of the armed wing of the Church of Glabados. The true villain and antagonist of the game.
He is a loyal believer in Church of St.Ajora, and seeks to use the power of the auracite to resurrect the Bloody Angel to Ivalice.

He is middle-aged, and requires a deep, and sinister voice.

  • "These seem lavish enough quarters for a false princess..."

  • "You misjudge the strength of your enemy, Grand Duke Barrington. There will be no sport in killing you."

  • "Angel of Blood, in all things you I serve. No wine more deep, no searing coal more hot than this, the crimson blood for you I spill!"

The second-in-command of the Knights' Templar, and Folmarv's right hand man.

Loffrey is equally as fanatical and mysterious as Folmarv, and is of a similar age, though I am more open to alternative voices for this character. I am hoping to hear the various iterations and pick the one I like the most.

Any accent is welcome. He is middle-aged, like Folmarv.

Voice description:

  • "You speak of a thing beyond your doing."

  • "My name is Loffrey, and I come at another's behest."

  • "For you, Ramza, I shall cast open the very gates of hell!"

The eldest son of House Beoulve.
While he possesses the colours and inherits the presige of the Beoulve family, he is self-centred, cold, and ruthless, and power-hungry. He will betray and murder anyone–even his own father, for his own gain.

Accent: Ideally, Upper-Class British. American will also do though. He is an adult, but his voice should not be as low as Zalbaag's. His voice is less like that of a warrior, and more like a politician/tactician, since he is a shrewd manipulator. Think Palpatine from Star Wars.

  • "What good are rules when even those who enforce them choose not to take heed?"

The Cardinal of the Church of Glabados, and head of Lionel Castle.

On the surface, he seems compassionate, caring and reasonable.
But on the inside, he is scheming, ruthless, Machiavellian and will stop at nothing to seize the auracite and use its power for his own ends, to further the ambitions of the Church of Glabados.

He has a FRENCH accent (His last name literally means: Of the cross.")
His demeanour can change from kindly/caring to sinister/evil depending on which scene he is appearing in.

  • "Ho ho ho... The girl does not yet know, Lord Folmarv."

  • "(>Cold/Sinister<) I trust things to those who can be trusted. Men who fail me time and time again are rewarded in another way."

Head of the Baert Trading Company.
He plans to snatch the auracite from Mustadio for the Cardinal, and will stop at nothing to retrieve it.

He is overweight, and generally quite incompetent.

Voice description:

  • "Bring him out!"

  • "You've been most helpful, most helpful! Pity you've outlived your usefulness. Kill them!"

  • "(>Angrily<) You've some gall to speak, sellsword! It was you who let them escape!"

A machinist who holds the mysterious auracite stone, who is on the run from the ruthless Baert trading company.

He is youthful, but knows how to use a pistol.

Any accent is welcome

  • "I am a machinist. Do you know the history of my trade?"

  • "I do not know what power these Zodiac stones hold.""

  • "I have a message for your leader, Ludovich! Tell him that if he lays so much as a finger on my father, he'll never see the auracite again!"

There are several unnamed extras in this game, and I would like them to have various different accents to convey that they are different, and come from outside the castle walls.

Voice: Any casual, generic voice will do and I honestly don't mind which accent really.

  • "I say we forget this business and run... there's naught for it."

  • "The Order... They're here!"
