Fallout 4: New Vegas

Fallout 4: New Vegas

Project Overview

Fallout 4: New Vegas is a large scale mod project, aiming to recreate 2010's Fallout: New Vegas in a modern game engine, with work being done to both recreate and enhance aspects of the original game. Set in a post-apocalyptic Nevada, the game's narrative focuses on the factional interplay in the leadup to a war over the Hoover Dam.

Work is being done following Bethesda Softworks requirements for projects of this sort, and so requires voice actors to recreate the dialogue from the original game. Our work is supported by a large community, and showcases of our work have well over 2 million views on Youtube. Given the important of voice acting in a game of this sort, and the number of characters present, voice acting will be given a key focus in any showcases done in the future.

Role assigned to: domjam

An elderly small-town doctor, with the distinction of being the first character the player will see in the game. Has a calming, polite tone with a hint of weary sarcasm.

The ideal actor for this role should sound to be in their late 50's, with a middling tone to their voice. A slight southwestern accent would be preferable.

Original: (portrayed by Michael Hogan)

  • You're awake. How about that. Whoa, easy there. Easy. You been out cold a couple of days now. Why don't you just relax a second? Get your bearings.

  • Let's see what the damage is. How about your name? Can you tell me your name?

  • Huh. Can't say it's what I'd have picked for you. But if that's your name, that's your name. I'm Doc Mitchell. Welcome to Goodsprings.

A smooth-talking casino boss based on golden-era Vegas mobsters. A hip and cool front hides the razor-sharp attitude of a dangerous former gang member whose calm and collected front can falter when faced with the unexpected.  Speaks with a cool and smooth manner when in control of a situation, but is prone to slipping into his old more 'normal' spoken mannerisms when he isn't.

The ideal actor for this role should be a male that sounds to be in their mid 30's, with a middling tone of voice. A Matthew Perry impression is not required. Original performance for reference: https://youtu.be/BxOiVxTB0KY?t=3m52s

  • Time to cash out. Maybe Khans kill people without looking 'em in the face. But I ain't a fink, dig?

  • You've made your last delivery, kid. Sorry you got twisted up in this scene.

  • From where you're kneeling must seem like an eighteen-karat run of bad luck. Truth is, the game was rigged from the start.

A robot with the vocal characteristics of a kindly western cowboy. A pastiche of several different golden-era Western characters, he speaks with a kindly and somewhat folksy manner, but can take on a razor-sharp edge when threatened (or threatening.)

The ideal actor for this role should be a male that sounds to be in their late 30's to early 40's, with a higher to middling vocal tone. A southwestern accent would be preferable. Original performance for reference: https://youtu.be/AzWBHWlslzo?t=48s

  • Howdy, pardner! Might I say, you're looking fit as a fiddle.

  • Don't mention it! I'm always ready to lend a helping hand to a stranger in need.

  • I was out for a stroll that night when I heard the commotion up at the old bone orchard. Saw what looked like a bunch of bad eggs so I laid low.

A retired treasure hunter and explosives aficionado, he is the embodiment of the short-spoken, gruff old western character. Has a laid back but concise way of speaking, with tiredness punctuating his way of speaking.

The ideal actor for this role should be an African American male that sounds to be at least in their early 60's, with a deeper, gravelly voice. A slight southwestern accent would be preferable, but is not necessary. Original performance for reference: https://youtu.be/6CNaER2fMOg?t=18m5s

  • Howdy.

  • Too dangerous. Gonna kill all yourselves if I let you touch it. Better to leave it buried - safer that way.

  • Uh huh. Guess you know what you're doing. I'll go dig it up and get it ready. You'll have it by the time the fighting starts.

A caravaneer and trader that travels the highways and byways of post-Nuclear Nevada. A younger man, he speaks with a somewhat rural dialect, informed by his blue collar lifestyle. Has a polite and occasionally excitable attitude, without a lack for confidence where it matters.

The ideal actor for this role should be a male that sounds to be in their late 20's, with a middling vocal tone. A southwestern accent would be preferable. Original performance for reference: https://youtu.be/AzWBHWlslzo?t=4m8s

  • You must be the one Doc Mitchell was patching up. The way I heard it, I didn't think you'd be walking out of that office.

  • I've got plenty of supplies for sale. Even got some weapon mods and special ammo - well worth the caps, if you ask me.

  • If you're hurting for caps, I've also got boxes of surplus ammo in the miscellaneous section. They're not great, but you get what you pay for.
