Hello everyone, I'm Elle and for the past four years, I have been working on a zero-budget multimedia fan project with a story that is best described as a loose reimagining of the cartoon Angel's Friends (2009).
The cartoon follows the story of an angel named Raf and a devil named Sulfus that fall in love as they try to guide humans down the right and wrong paths (respectively) while an outside forces plan to use them for nefarious purposes. Raf and Sulfus each have a group of friends from which they must hide their relationship while enlisting their help in their duties as guardians and in counterattacks to the outside forces. The main conflict of the story entails Raf and Sulfus taking time to decide whether or not they want to risk everything to stay together while dealing with situations that challenge their love. The series ends with Raf and Sulfus agreeing on a course of action.
The Eternal Frenemies Project very loosely adapts this story with too many changes to be classified as a fanfiction. It has completely original characters in place of the Angel's Friends cast (with two exceptions - Arkhan and Temptel) and revisions of the show's mechanics that introduce brand new lore (this was partially done to address plot holes and unanswered questions from the series). It is also meant for an audience of teenagers and young adults as opposed to the cartoon's target audience of children, which allows for heavier, more complex themes. This project consists of three parts:
- a feature-length prequel film originally released to YouTube in 2022 but removed,
- a miniseries made with Gacha Club originally released to YouTube in 2020 but removed,
- a comic that is ongoing.
This casting call is for the first part of the project, a film entitled "Return to Eternity", which serves as a "loredump" for the entire project and is thus necessary to fully understand its story. The film is mostly made with Microsoft PowerPoint and Autodesk Sketchbook (as such, it has very little animation; it is visually a storyboard for the most part). Since the story (at the time of the original release) contained spoilers for the connecting projects, I decided to do everything myself amidst my thesis work and it shows. I do not blame you for any criticism, but I am quite proud of the creativity it took to make the film happen.
The one thing I could not accomplish for the film was sound, and I believe my decision to release the film as completely silent was the main reason for its abysmal performance. I removed the film from YouTube with a plan to re-release it fully voiced (the film is still visually done, so that is the only missing piece). I will only accept volunteers as I do not wish for money to be involved: any potential volunteers should view their audition and/or role in this project as a "practice run" that may help them get exposure to more advanced projects.
[Note: In some of the role descriptions, you will see the category "Voice Inspiration" typed out - this does NOT mean you have to do a perfect impression of the voice listed, just try to get within range of it.]
I have posted the film itself as unlisted to YouTube so that anyone who is interested in providing a voice can watch it in full to get a better grasp of desired roles. Should a full cast be reached by the deadline, the finished voice-acted version will be released to the public with all VAs listed in the credits. The link to view the movie is as follows: https://youtu.be/ehTcXvRKP2M
Discord is not necessary but strongly encouraged as I plan to coordinate everything in terms of discussion, auditions, selections, and recording for the movie there. The invite link to the server is as follows: https://discord.gg/tNyKAKBR7t
I will monitor this page for messages, but it may take me time to reply.
SO, if you are interested in voicing over a PowerPoint film or you know someone that might, please consider this casting call and/or let them know! Either way, have fun and I wish you all a blessed day!
