Project Overview

ECHOES OF THE COLOSSEUM

What is Echoes of the Colosseum? Glad you asked! It's an original mini movie that takes heavy inspiration from the Ancient Greek and Ancient Roman eras. Evelyn, a young historian from modern day, is fascinated by Ancient Greece and Rome. One day, she mysteriously wakes up in these ancient times. Immediately, she recognizes the architecture style and surprisingly can understand the locals' language.

She soon learns that there will be a combat tournament taking place. Unfortunately, it has just been announced that there are not enough participants due to someone opting out at the last minute. Despite not knowing how to fight, Evelyn decides to sign up, and with the help of her new friends, she trains with them in preparation.

Everything in the mini movie will hopefully be historically accurate and will have mythological references as well. I made sure to do loads of research during the planning of this project!

The mini movie itself will be made with a character and scene creation app (Gacha Life 2 to be specific) so I won't be drawing everything frame by frame. However, I will need a team of voice actors to help me bring these characters to life, and hopefully make the mini movie more entertaining for my viewers who have long since been anticipating it. I finish my projects quite fast, taking about 1-2 weeks of constant work, so as a member of the team, you will expect the finished product to be out very quickly as soon as all lines have been submitted. My targeted release date would be Early January-Late February though this isn't a must.

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Be at least 14+ years old.

  • Must have Discord, as I will be inviting every cast member into a private Discord server where production will take place, for convenience and quick communication. (I will also be sharing various sneak peeks and other cool things on there).

  • Remember to relisten to your audition a few times before submitting.

  • It is encouraged to list what recording equipment (i.e microphone, software) you used for your audition.

SIDE NOTES:

Before auditioning for a character, remember to read the information I wrote about them! It details their preferred voice pitch among other things like their backstory and personality. This is so I could, of course, find the right person for the job.

You are allowed to audition for multiple characters. Though if you decide to audition for literally half of the character cast, remember to not go too overboard and drink water if necessary.

Also, this is of course, an UNPAID project. All of this is just for fun and I don't intend to be making money off of it. I don't exactly have the most freedom when it comes to spending so I have to stick to making projects unpaid. However, if you still decide to take your time to audition, I very much appreciate that!

  • DEADLINE ARRIVAL

    HEY! The time has come, auditions have now closed for Echoes of the Colosseum. It's absolutely insane that I almost managed to get 400 submissions and it'll definitely be fun looking through all of them. If you auditioned, keep your eyes peeled on your CCC direct message inbox or your email as I will message those who got casted. I will also make a follow-up update listing the names of the people who got in. The cast will be announced tomorrow (Dec 14th) so until then, stay tuned!     If you don't get casted, then don't be discouraged; I WILL always hold auditions for future projects on CCC including some long-term ones that are still in the planning stages right now. The sky is the limit when it comes to opportunities from me. :)

Lore: Evelyn is the protagonist of Echoes of the Colosseum. She is a regular human from the modern timeline who is currently studying history in college. History is, of course, her favourite topic and subject, and she would sometimes go overboard with it, often forgetting to take care of herself due to her being so hyperfocused on researching a given topic for her essays and presentations. Her favourite thing to research in history is Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome. She is absolutely fascinated with how the people from those times have lived their lives, and is always eager to learn more about it. Evelyn’s childhood was pretty average like any child would have, though ever since her grandfather, who was also a historian, passed away very recently, Evelyn decided to take learning history more seriously, and perhaps make some actual discoveries that would change the world forever, just to make her grandfather proud. That sadly is pretty unlikely, but, hey, she enjoys history, and it almost seems like she’ll sell her life for it.

Lore: Aestra is a follower of the Greek God ‘Zeus’. She is a very noble woman with a gentle (but sometimes harsh) tongue, and is a renowned temple keeper in Hellas. She ensures that the vicinity around the temples are clean, undamaged, and actively protects them from vandalism and potential suspicious trespassers. She takes her god, Zeus, very seriously, and often takes them as an inspiration, even going as far as forging an identical replica of Zeus’s Thunderbolt with the help of Tarenos. Aestra is very skilled in fighting, and has attended a few tournaments before, however nowadays ever since she became a temple keeper, she rarely attends them anymore, as keeping the ancient temples safe and pristine at all times is her top priority.

Lore: Vesta comes from the neighbouring Roman Empire (aka. Caput Mundi), and is a pretty dedicated tournament-goer, attending every single fighting tournament she hears about. She has also become a minor celebrity due to her winning the majority of them. Vesta is a follower of the Roman god ‘Minerva’ (or Athena in Greek terms), and strongly believes that all of her strength and power has come from Minerva themselves. Vesta often has a very unique way of speaking, which most people have a very hard time understanding, but despite this, they manage. Vesta is also known to be quite arrogant and cocky, but despite those traits, she is always a beast on the battlefield. She is also known for being direct rivals with another star fighter, Augeias.

Personality: intimidating, straightforward, difficult, firm
Lore: Augeias is a follower of the Greek God ‘Helios’. He and Selene are practically inseparable, forming the iconic Sun and Moon duo of Hellas. Augeias is well known for being the strongest fighter in all of Hellas, brutally destroying each of his opponents. However, Vesta is very close to beating him in terms of overall strength, and the two have thus become rivals for many years. Augeias is known to keep things to himself most of the time, and never interferes in any serious situation unless he deems the said situation to be “worthy of his attention”. He’s also somewhat difficult to get along with, due to his somewhat harsh way of speaking and his loud, deep voice, as well as his straightforward and intimidating personality. It’s believed that the reason he takes everything so seriously is to get noticed by Helios themself, and in the future, becoming the “new sun”.

Personality: reserved, aloof, composed, sometimes resolute

Lore: Selene is a follower of the Greek god ‘Artemis’. She and Augeias are practically inseparable, forming the iconic Sun and Moon duo of Hellas. Unlike Augeias, Selene isn't much of a fighter, however, she's recognized as the best archer in all of Hellas, capable of making arrow shots that 99% of others deem impossible, almost as if… her arrows are guided and being controlled by someone or something remotely. Selene is basically the exact opposite of Augeias. She's mostly aloof, and not really talkative, but despite that, she's somewhat easy to get along with due to her composed and calm demeanor, almost like the moon itself. Selene, being a follower of Artemis, often finds herself going out and looking deeply at the moon, while mumbling to herself in an almost poetic way, as if speaking to Artemis in a way the deity would understand. She also hopes that one day, she would become the “new moon”.

Personality: mostly emotionless, reserved, intolerant, monotonous
Lore: Keres is a follower of the Greek God ‘Hades’. Keres seems to take her god very seriously, more seriously than any other follower, and she believes that if she believes in him enough, she’ll get transported into the Underworld. Keres is known to be emotionless most of the time, only speaking in a low, monotone tone of voice, almost as if she’s singing a requiem for someone. Due to Keres always having a dead wide-eyed stare on her face and her cracked pale skin, many find her very unsettling and stay far away from her. It’s rumoured that Keres secretly despises Hades, and only pretends to be a follower of theirs just to retrieve the soul of her deceased mother from the Underworld. Despite this, however, Keres finds comfort in insects, specifically butterflies.

Lore: Thyros is a follower of the Greek God ‘Apollo’. Thyros, specifically, is a street musician, and can be seen playing his lyre at memorable sights, large cities and fighting tournaments. Though oddly enough, most of the time, he lacks an audience, giving his sudden performances a very unsettling feel, making random passersby wonder if what they're seeing or hearing is even real. Thyros has a burning passion for music and song, and he can't resist playing some tunes whenever possible. Thyros as a person is very laid-back and doesn't show much emotion, mostly minding his own business. However, the way he plays his lyre tells a lot about his current emotion, despite it not being apparent on his face. If it's slow and gentle, he's happy or calm. If it's fast paced and loud, he's angry or sad. Other than that, not much is known about Thyros, but still, considering his obvious obsession with music and his frequent street performances, he's gained himself quite the reputation. It's also said that Thyros’ biggest wish is to sing a lyre duet along with Apollo themself.

Lore: Eryse is a follower of the Greek God ‘Hecate’. Eryse is an antagonist, but unlike typical antagonists, she doesn’t hate the protagonist; she only finds her as an ‘interesting subject’. Eryse secretly is aware about Evelyn not being from this timeline. It's not clear how she found out, or how she’s even aware of the concept of timelines and the future, however, Eryse seems to find out about the smallest of secrets that anyone might have, without even realizing that she’s nearby. Eryse doesn't interact much with the public. She doesn't show up to events, tournaments, or anything, and just keeps to herself, watching events unfold from a distance, which earned her the title “Silent Witness”. Despite this though, many bystanders have caught subtle glimpses of Eryse hiding out in the shadows, as if she's “waiting for an answer”, which caused her to even earn that title in the first place. After the first few encounters, a myth was born about the Silent Witness, that is still discussed even in present day Hellas. As for Eryse as a person, not much is known about her due to how rare her appearances are. However, Eryse is rumoured to be extremely mysterious, only speaks in riddles, and secretly knows a ritual that allows her to enter a realm known as the “Triodos”. Nobody knows what this realm looks like or if it's even real, but, as the myth goes, it’s a “gateway between worlds”, and Hecate's actual place of residence. Eryse’s role as an antagonist will be to “wake up” Evelyn from her slumber.

Lore: Calthea is a follower of the Greek God ‘Themis’. Calthea is the person in charge of upholding the law and rules of Hellas, and she frequently watches over tournaments, making sure everything is in order during important events. Calthea is known to be incredibly strict, speaking in a loud voice that intimidates anyone who hears it. Despite her job to keep a watchful eye on almost everything in Hellas, she does attend some tournaments in order to improve her looks (which she dearly cares about), and her fighting prowess, though her appearance as a contestant is very rare. She can be known to be a bit antagonistic at times, but deep down, she has a heart for the people of Hellas and she doesn't want anything to happen to them. It's also rumoured that the laws of Hellas are actually upheld by Themis themself, even in present day where Evelyn is from.

Personality: productive, determined, easygoing, fearless, courageous

Lore: Tarenos is a follower of the Greek Gods; ‘Ares’ and ‘Hephaestus’. Tarenos is a pretty average tournament-goer as many others, however outside of the warm feeling of battle, he's a blacksmith, forging gadgets and other cool items for the people of Hellas for an average price. Some of these gadgets even look impossible to be made for the time period in question, which causes his forgery business to sometimes skyrocket in demand. Tarenos actually has “multiple personalities”, one of which references a God that Tarenos follows. Ares for his determined, serious, and war-like side, and Hephaestus for his productive, laid-back and forging side. In general, Tarenos is a pretty chill person who is easy to get along with despite his low voice and tough exterior. It's said that Hephaestus is the reason he is able to forge items outside of humanity's understanding.
