The Haunting of Downton Abbey Episode 2/Intro
Project Overview
This casting call has roles that will are needed for the second Episode of Downton Abbey and the Intro to the series which will be featured in our second episode. The project will be published on Youtube, and somewhere on this page, you can check out the First Episode that was recently made.
The main mode of communication is Discord and Email. The expectation of all voice actors is that they check Discord at least every 3 days for any new notifications/deadlines and that lines are turned in on time. I am flexible if you need more time IF you tell me in advance. For ghost extras, I do not follow up if you don't turn in lines because I assume if you want to be featured you will turn in your lines by the deadline. I am being strict as this has been an issue in the projects I'm currently working on. Communication is really key to making this all a success.
Downton Abbey is a tv show about an aristocratic family living in the Edwardian Era. The series follows not only the family but also that of the servants through several years of history.
I came up with an idea for an audio play revolving around a girl named Grace Foster who can see the undead. Upon arriving on Downton she becomes aware something is terribly wrong in the house as one of the undead spirits lurking is not at rest.

Lady Sybil is a very kind-hearted person who is also a political activist. She believes in women's rights and goes out of her way to help a female servant leave her life of service. Her relationship with Grace Foster (the protagonist) is shaky at first but grows into a deep friendship.
Sybil has a mid-pitched voice. I'd like for her voice actor to be able to portray her as a warm inviting person. A British accent is ideal for this role but not ideal.
You needn’t be afraid of me Grace. I won’t bite. Sit on the chair, I’d like to get to know you a little.
Oh, I beg your pardon Grace. It was stupid of me to say what I did. Mr.Carson told me your parents have died. I wasn’t thinking.
(urgently) This way! We must get away from here now!
Anna is one of the head maids at Downton Abbey who particularly serves Lady Mary's needs as a Lady's Maid. She is very kind and dedicated friend. Her kindness to Grace makes them quick friends.
Grace, it's time to wake up.
The water is in the basin so you can wash up and your uniform is on the chair. I’m going to help Mrs.Patmore before breakfast.
Gwen is quite ill still so I’d like to check in on her throughout the night.
Lady Mary is the oldest of the Crawley Sisters and is very sure of herself, to the point of being considered vain and conceded by many. She often makes harsh and cruel remarks to others such as her sister Edith to put on a brave face and hide her true feelings. Anna and Mr.Carson are fond of her.
She is mid to low in range. She sounds extremely confident (to the point of being cocky) but can also sound very remorseful depending on the line and scene. I'd like a voice actor who can portray these emotions as needed. Having a British accent is ideal but not required.
(angry) What in gods name is she poking about for?
(annoyed) Honestly, the amount of time you two spend worrying about servants astounds me. Don't you have something better to do? Particularly, you Edith. You've been flinging yourself at Sir Antony so much I was afraid you might have hit a new low.
(pleasantly) So, how are you enjoying your stay? I hope Papa didn't bore you with war stories.
Lady Edith is one of the daughters of Lady and Sir Grantham. She is the second oldest of the three Crawley Sisters and struggles throughout the show to find love and to not be overshadowed by Mary, whom she has a long-standing rivalry with.
I'm looking for a voice that is mid-high pitched in sound. In particular, I'd like for the voice actor to be able to portray her as vulnerable and insecure and also bitter and annoyed according to the lines.
You best be on your guard. It isn't safe for a woman to be wandering about after dark.
How is that new lady's maid, Sybil? You haven't spoken much about her and it's already been two days.
Could you tell me more about that? It's actually quite interesting to me, despite what Mary says. She can be quite full of herself at times.
Lord Grantham is the owner of Downton Abbey and the father of Mary, Edith, and Sybil. He loves his children and wife and does what he thinks is best to protect his estate and those he cares for.
His voice is mid to low in pitch. He speaks in an authoritative way and also in a fatherly way depending on the line and scene. A British accent is ideal but not required.

Lady Grantham is a devoted mother to her three daughters and wishes to see them married and be happy. She particularly worries after Mary who is the eldest and least willing to settle down.
Her voice is mid to low pitched in range. She sounds motherly and concerned for most of her lines in the drama. A British accent is ideal but not required.

Mary, you mustn't be so unkind to every potential male suitor. You know how much is at stake after what occurred.
Mrs.Hughes runs the servant's quarters along with Mr.Carson. She is primarily in charge of disciplining all the women employed in the Grantham estate. She is known to be less harsh than Mr.Carson but is still highly respected amongst the other servants.
I'd like for her to have a lively Scottish accent if possible, along with a more mature and elderly voice. Ideally, I'd like an actor who has a mid-high pitched voice or close to that range. I'd also like an actor who can sound authoritative and motherly as needed depending on the lines and scenes,
Ah, there you are, Grace. We’d thought you’d never come down for breakfast.

Gwen is a servant working in the Grantham house who has a close relationship with Lady Sybil and Anna. She is working to become a secretary and leave service.
Her voice is about mid-range in pitch. She is not very well educated at the start of the show so I'd like for the voice actor to be able to portray her as humble but also be able to portray her as confident depending on the line and scene. She has a Yorkshire accent in the show, it would be nice if the voice actor for her can do this, but it is not required.
Thomas, what are you doing?
That’s right. They wanted to hire a new lady’s maid because Ms.O’Brien complained that she couldn’t handle all the work between the Ladies.
I just passed her in the hall. Shall I send her back to apologize and aid you? I can’t believe she’d leave you to yourself.
Mrs.Patmore is in charge of preparing all the food for the Grantham family. She is often very stressed and red-faced and has a strong desire to ensure everything is perfect.
Her accent in the show is Scottish so it would be nice if someone could voice Mrs.Patmore with this accent but it isn't a requirement. Her voice is mid-range to high-range in pitch. It is important to be able to yell for this part as Mrs.Patmore frequently does this in the show.

Daisy is a kitchen maid that works under Mrs.Patmore. She is head over heels in love with Thomas and is oblivious to the fact he's gay.
Her voice is high-pitched in range. She should sound like an early teen. Her voice should sound insecure when it comes to talking with Mrs.Patmore but very happy and doe-eyed when it comes to talking about romance. A British accent is ideal for her role but is not required.
(give me 2-3 variations of this) Yes Mrs.Patmore.
