Cursed bus ride (Storytime animation) - Old

Cursed bus ride (Storytime animation) - Old

Project Overview

About the project:
I’m Keith, and I’m working on a 12-minute storytime animation for YouTube, based on a real (and pretty ridiculous) experience of mine.

Current progress:
I’ve completed about 4.5 minutes out of the planned 8–12 minutes.
If you want a sneak peek, here’s a link to some of the finished frames. They’re not in order to avoid spoilers:
Google Drive Preview

Progress by character:

  • Dad (Done + Animated)

  • Bus Conductor (Animation prepped + voice acting required)

  • Food Stall Lady

  • Hero

  • Strict Teacher

  • Cow Sitting in a Bowl of Soup

The plot:
It’s supposed to be a normal morning — get up, catch the bus, get to class.
Instead, it turns into a wild series of bad luck, questionable decisions.
The tone is casual storytelling with some surreal, meme-style humor thrown in.

I’m currently looking for voice actors for a few supporting roles.

These are short parts — only about 3–5 lines each — so they won’t take too much time. Although some lines might change and need to be re-recorded later due to script change.

Open roles:

  • Bus Conductor (Adult Male voice)

  • Food Stall Lady (Mature Female voice)

  • Hero (Helpful Stranger, Adult Male voice)

  • Strict Teacher (Adult Female voice)

  • Cow Sitting in a Bowl of Soup (Low, Deep Male voice — for comedic effect)

The voice descriptions are suggestions. Feel free to bring your own style if you think it fits better.

Some quick notes:

  • It’s unpaid, but you’ll be fully credited in the final video and description.

  • No strict deadline yet. I’ll reopen casting officially once more of the animation is ready.

Thanks again for your support. I’m really excited to bring this story to life and to work with some of you!

Hope to hear from you soon.

    Project Update and Casting Reminder!

    Hey everyone,

First off, just a quick update: I'm extending the project deadline.
As I keep working on this, I keep raising the bar for myself — the quality is getting better, but it also means everything takes more time.
At this point, I’ve basically accepted this project as my Magnum Opus — my “go big or die quietly in a corner” moment. So I’m going all in. Thanks for sticking with me!

    Now onto the good news:

I’ve just finished the raw animation for the first 4.5 minutes of the project!
Actually, the first 3.5 minutes are already voice acted, edited, and basically audience-ready, with just a few minor touch-ups left.

If you want to check out some of the newer frames from the project, here’s the link:

Also, a huge thanks to Carionto for voicing Dad — even if it’s just one line, it’s a great one!

    Next up:
The next character I'll be working on is the Bus Conductor Guy. (Fun fact: he finally has a face now — I drew him recently!)

    Important Note:

The way I’m handling this project is by finishing the sound for one scene first, then animating and editing that scene before moving on to the next.

So if you’ve already submitted an audition but haven’t heard back yet, don’t worry — it probably just means your character’s part hasn’t come up yet in my workflow.

Right now, I really need more voice submissions for the Bus Conductor Guy!

Please send one in if you’re interested!

Thanks again for all your patience, support, and excitement.
This project is taking time, but I’m really proud of how it’s shaping up — and I can’t wait to share it with you all.
