Crimes Of Maintenance - Season 1 (Splatoon/GMOD)
Project Overview
Hey everyone! I'm LolAttack, owner of LolAttack Productions and director for an upcoming GMOD machinima series called "Crimes of Maintenance".
COM is a series dedicated to expanding Nintendo's Splatoon franchise and its world, significantly on the Octarians' side.
Mae Kahawai, a graduate of the Octarian Science Laboratories prodigy program, gets kidnapped by the Maintenance for her talents and offered a job by Vella (this role has already been taken). Having no real choice, Mae accepts the position of scientist and researcher at the OSL and is given a new home within Maintenance HQ. Mae now has to adapt to her new toxic environment and form an entirely new social circle with other prodigies from within the confines of the corrupt Octarian government, while her brother Jack plots to free her from the Maintenance’s grasp.
Voice acting for the series will be taking place in a Discord group chat with everyone recording themselves alongside the rest of the cast. Voice Actor
The main protagonist and the female lead. Kidnapped by the Octarians after graduating from the OSL prodigy program, the series is about her adjustment to living in her toxic new environment. Her voice should sound grounded and curious at first, but over time her voice becomes much more confident and stable.
"Heh, maybe working with the Octarians isn't so bad after all... I can't believe I just said that."
"Ugh, do you mind? I don't like being watched."
"Dear diary, today I got kidnapped, interrogated, and slapped in the face by a 19-year-old. The usual, I guess."
Voice Actor
One of the two secondary female leads alongside Alyssa. Monica is a rowdy, impulsive octoling that prefers to think less and do more, much to the annoyance of her peers. She's not the brightest, but she is very lively. She also has NO clue who her parents are. Her voice is a little raspy and she usually speaks with a casual tone.
"Listen, say what you want about calling them noodleheads, all I'm saying is-- chunky udon babies. Eh? Eh?"
Do it. I fucking dare you. Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES, AM I LETTING THESE TWO WASTE THEIR LIVES UNDER HYPNOSIS!
Dude, you will not believe what I just saw! Okay, okay, so there was this HUGE rat, yeah? And not gonna lie, it kind of looked like Vella, sounded like Vella-- ...was Vella, oh hi Vella!
Voice Actor
Alyssa is the younger sister of Ivy who’s shy as hell and constantly clings to Monica. She isn’t fond of confrontation, preferring to work behind the scenes as much as she can. She’s incredibly sensitive and can get... emotional. Her voice should be able to go from sounding sweet and timid to cold or hurt.
"Wh, huh? The Octogathering's today? Ehhh, I'd rather not. C-Crowds."
"But... you’re hurt, and I want to help. Can you just make this easier for the both of us, please..?"
(hurt) "It.. It doesn’t matter anymore. You never cared anyway."
Voice Actor
The male lead for the series. After his sister Mae gets kidnapped, Jack starts plotting a detailed plan to get her back. His voice should be cautious but passionate, being able to sound enthusiastic when speaking to people.
"COME TO 23, SLUM 17 TO JOIN ME IN RAIDING THE MAINTENANCE TO GET MY SISTER MAE (may) KAHAWAI (KAH-hah-why) BACK!"
"*He gasps in amazement.* She- she misses me, doesn’t she? Hah- HAHA! SHE HASN’T FORGOTTEN ABOUT ME! Are you one of her friends or something?"
"So then I singlehandedly storm Maintenance HQ, kill the queen, save Mae, and then we can come back home and watch cartoons together again! *He sticks the plan to his "fridge".* I’m surprised the Maintenance hasn’t stolen this, to be honest."
Voice Actor
Ivy is Queen Vella's (unofficial) adoptive daughter, who has been heavily sheltered from everything that Maintenance has done ever since she was taken in. As such, she's pretty relaxed and carefree compared to the rest of the cast. She's curious about the world above Octopia's screen-lit domes, but her dependence on Vella outweighs that. This has affected her into adulthood. You're free to experiment with her voice as long as it sounds sweet but confident.
"Jeez, you all are really worked up about this. Y'know, punching the shit out of dummies is a lot more fun than you think."
"You think I'll be like them one day? I wonder what it's like, getting to work outside of HQ..."
"I'd say have a little more gratitude, Maintenance does so much for us."
Voice Actor
Nicole is the twin sister of Sally and an eccentric aspiring scientist that's incredibly talented in her field, but less so when it comes to social interaction. She doesn't really get other people all that much, but still remains enthusiastic when it comes to her experiments, though perhaps to a fault. Her voice should be energetic and hyperactive, though still able to sound sensitive. Also, be prepared to say quite a bit of science nonsense.
"I meant intellectual genius pertaining to the scientific field I work in, of course— social interaction is something beyond my understanding at the moment, but fear not! With my research and social experiments, I’m sure I’ll have a better grasp as to this strange concept you call… “communication”."
"What's this? .. made in Teuthida (too-thigh-dah), huh? .. Well, I have no use for it, the stuff we have here is already far superior."
"Wait, are you saying you don't like explosions? You don't like chemicals reacting to one another and combusting? .. and they say I'M the weird one, you're supposed to be a scientist!"
Voice Actor
A sentient weapon created by the Octarian Science Laboratories. He starts off as semi-robotic in his speech and thought process (still a living person though, so his voice should sound like a normal guy), but grows more self-aware and natural throughout the series.
*He observes his surroundings.* … white. Cold. *He looks at Mae.* Octoling. Maintenance. Presumed creator. *He then looks at Nicole.* Presumed scientist. Species unknown. Permission to execute?

My name is Octarian Superweapon 04K73. I was created to serve the queen and assist in inkling attacks.

Sally is the twin sister of Nicole and the more grounded of the two. She's a workaholic, and is constantly tired because of it - and puts a lot of emphasis on staying serious when need be. She knows where her morals lie and tries to enforce them as much as possible. Her voice should be able to go from sounding exhausted to passionate, and is generally firm.
"How can anyone not at least IMAGINE what it's like up there? It could be so happy, so free, so... alive. Anything is better than this place."
"*sigh*, I would come, but.. my schedule's really been filled to the brim lately. Or actually, since the beginning of time. ...what day is it?"
'I-- she has no idea who she's idolizing or the atrocities that they're committing out there, I don't want to hurt her - but I can't let this go on. I can't just sit and watch."
Voice Actor
A member of the Maintenance and the person responsible for kidnapping Mae. His voice should sound brash and firm.
Oh, they’re not going anywhere. Permission to take these guys to the hypnosis chamber, your majesty?
Oh my god, girl, SHUT UP. NO-ONE IS AROUND TO HELP YOU. YOUR MOTHER? SHE GAVE YOU TO ME. YOUR BROTHER? FAST ASLEEP AND IGNORING YOU. NOBODY CARES, SO JUST SHUT UP AND PAY ATTENTION.
