Come Alive (The Greatest Showman) A Capella Cover
Project Overview
As I'm sure most of you are out there, I'm a huge Greatest Showman fan. I've wanted to do a cover of one of their songs for the longest time, and I've finally decided to do something about it! There's no pay, but do it for the joy of creating and inspiring!
Come Alive, if you haven't heard it, is the fourth song in the Greatest Showman soundtrack. The scene in which it takes place is one where the protagonist, P.T. Barnum, is bringing out his circus oddities out onto the stage for the first time, and they are nervous and need motivation, so out comes a song!

I am a singer myself, still in school, but in my Advanced Choir, and Boy's A Capella group "BLU". On top of those, I am a DREAMER!
I very well might cast multiple people for the roles down below. For example, there could be two people who alternate Barnum's lines, even though it's one role. And we could have multiple beatboxers too, if needed.
You should be able to listen to the song well, and pick out certain sounds that you'll be replicating. If that's not currently a skill you possess, practice it! You can do it with pretty much ANY song!
I also feel like this song, Come Alive, isn't covered as much... it's a little overshadowed by The Greatest Show, This Is Me, Never Enough, and Rewrite The Stars (Which are all great songs, of course). So I want to do it some glory and honor.

This is mostly a tenor role, but I'm allowing all voice types, female and male, to audition, because I think that would put a fun twist on it!

Sing as much of the song as you want, the whole thing, or just the part you're best at. More specifically, the parts where P.T. Barnum is singing.
Sing a scale for me. A scale of your choice, nothing too fancy.
It's mostly a soprano/alto role, but I've been able to manage it myself as a tenor. This is a small, but powerful part in the song. If cast for this role, you may be asked to sing in the choruses as well.
Introduce yourself! "Hi, my name is ______." Etc, etc.
Sing the following part, and more if you want: "No more living in those shadows, you and me, we know how that goes!"
Sing a scale for me. A scale of your choice, nothing too fancy.
A small but powerful role in the song. If cast here, you will most likely also be asked to sing in some of the choruses. This can be a bass or tenor part, or any voice in between.

Sing the following part, and more if you want: "Because once you see it, oh, you'll never, ever be the same!"
Sing a scale for me. A scale of your choice, nothing too fancy.
A part in the bridge of the song, a memorable character with a sweet voice. If cast for this role, you may be asked to sing in the choruses as well.
Introduce yourself! "Hi, my name is ______." Etc, etc.
Sing Anne Wheeler's part, "To anyone who's bursting with a dream!" and other parts in the song, if you wish.
Sing me a simple scale of your choice, nothing too fancy.
I don't think I have a real limit for how many of these I need. LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS! This is probably the easiest way to sing in this song!

Sing the CHORUS!!! Sing your heart out as if you're actually right there on the stage with Hugh Jackman, Zendaya, and Kealla Settle.
This is the first sound in the entire song. It is a low bass line that sets the song and builds up the suspense into the rising action of the song. May be cast to multiple people.
Introduce yourself! "Hi, my name is ______." Etc, etc.
Vocalize the deep beginning part of the song.
This is the second sound in the entire song. High pitched plucks that seem to tug at the bass line, keeping the audience on the edge of their seats.
Introduce yourself! "Hi, my name is ______." Etc, etc.
Vocalize the high staccato pitches that accompany the bass line at the beginning of the song.
This is the first percussion sound in the piece, and starts to build up the beat inside the song's exterior. Very important.
Introduce yourself! "Hi, my name is ______." Etc, etc.
Vocalize the quiet "ta, ta-ka-ta, ta-ka-ta, ta-ka-ta" that begins once P.T. Barnum starts singing.
Second percussion sound that joins in when the volume starts to really build up.
Introduce yourself! "Hi, my name is ______." Etc, etc.
Vocalize and/or snap the beginning sounds that start right after, "You're asleep inside, but you can shake awake!" Use your discretion for whether it should be vocalized or actually snapped.
The rise into the chorus, a sound best used with a crescendo-ing 'S' sound, followed by a subtle "Boom", or "Bum" sound.

Vocalize the gentle rise of the cymbal as the first chorus starts, and the small bass drop that occurs directly after.
Melodies behind the singer, backing them up like a best friend!
Introduce yourself! "Hi, my name is ______." Etc, etc.
Vocalize the melody that starts in the background of the start of the first chorus, and any others throughout the song that you wish. The more, the merrier!
There can be many chosen for this role, and it is one of the most important non-singing roles in an a capella arrangement.

Beatbox some of the sounds and rhythms you can hear in the song.
Beatbox to your heart's desire. Impress me!

Clap to the rhythms in the song. Basically, just show me that you know how to stick with a beat.
A trickier role, because you want to match the sound of a guitar, but without a guitar, just with your voice.

Vocalize to the best of your ability the sounds that the guitar strums make in the chorus, using the methods that best suit you.
This is a really subtle but powerful role, that I think is a little underappreciated. Rock the house with this one!

Vocalize the bass strums during the end of the first chorus. They're subtle, but they're there!
Fun little slip-ins that are commonly found in a capella pieces. Defintely a must-have.

Any Oh's Yeah's or Huh's that you hear in the song, or any you think would be good additions, sound them here!
The trumpet sounds make for a grand, bold sound of a song. This is definitely one of the louder parts.

Vocalize that brass! Sing me those fanfares snuck in there throughout the song!

Bring out those big drums for me! You can hear them at the end of the second chorus, right when the bridge comes on. Remember, this is A CAPELLA, so no actual drums!
