Cherry: White Poppies and Pine
Project Overview
The story focusses around Cecily Malvern, an 18 year old girl who longs only to be free, as she struggles to survive in a corrupted world of exploitation of the young , run internationally by the The Auction - a previously underground criminal organisation based upon the kidnapping and auction of children aged between 11 and 18, in order to 'protect' the lives of every day people like you or me from the infernal 'modern mindset' of the new generation. Granted that you have the money for that protection, of course...

**There will be moderate, and occasionally strong, swearing and racial slurs used throughout, mostly used by Cecily, Thomas, Scarlett, Adrian, and most extras

Thomas Campbell (m/22)- embodiment of wrath; independent, patient, observant, loyal; cold, unemotional, distrusting. Shoulder-length wavy black hair, fringe across one eye, piercing blue eyes rimmed with black, 6'1", very definitive face with sharp features, faint stubble, pale skin, long limbs (fingers, arms, legs), fairly thin and gangling but very strong, although gentle in the extreme (save for when his anger is triggered and he becomes ruthless), harbours a love for nature and delicate/beautiful things, rarely speaks at all except to Cecily and later on a few others because he had been hurt so many times before by people and therefore distrusts others.
Thomas also happens to be my personal favourite character, and one whom I connect with most, due to his struggle with depression and love of nature and art.
He speaks very little to anyone, and often sneaks off to avoid confrontation with Ashe, with whom he shares an unfavourable past.
His voice is very low and quiet, often somewhat raspy due to its lack of use, but is very gentle, save for times when he is truly angry. Often his words are very slow and laboured, as though he doesn't know at all whether he wants to be saying anything or not. Due to the trauma of his past, he has become numb over the years and is highly apathetic, save for when something is troubling Cecily.
*Cecily is trying to hear him speak for the first time, so this is said very softly and quietly as he is rather shy* Thomas... *after she has later stormed away* I like you, too...
I draw beautiful things. They distract me from the ugliness I see all around me. And you, Cecily, are a beautiful thing
*close to tears, whispering to calm Cecily down as at the moment she is terrified* Don't you dare cry, or I might just have to kiss you again
Cecily Malvern (f/18)- fiercely loyal, independent, persistent; impulsive, stubborn, impatient, short tempered. Long curly dark red hair, usually in two ponytails down her shoulders, dark grey eyes, 5'4", defined face and heavily set jaw, small lips and eyes, fairly thick nose bridge, very light freckles across cheeks and up arms, thin and flexible but very strong for her size. She has a strong sense of right and wrong, and a horrendously stubborn attitude to match her decisive nature. She doesn't take kindly to anyone who chooses to mess with her, and is very foul mouthed at times; the actress should be comfortable with swearing
Her voice is sweet and soft, but sometimes has a certain brittle quality to it - she has been hardened by the loss of her younger brother, having had to sacrifice herself to the Auction so he wasn't taken instead.
*earnestly, quickly, trying to convince a person that life is worth living* Hurt isn't something you can escape. You were hurt, you are hurt, you will be hurt; it exists in every tense, and does not change. Because, if something truly hurts, it never really stops. Like love - love never stops. Whether it's love of family, friends, or something greater, love is unending. Undying. Love and hurt go hand in hand, forever
*narrative* There were four categories to be sold under: Servant, Lover, Bodyguard and Companion; you don't know how much a person is worth to you... until you sell them.
*frightened, being pulled towards an unwelcome escape route* Mr. Sheerewater?! What are you doing?! Surely that will kill us both!
An extremely tall and very thin man resembling very much quite a large spider, The Artist is a man in his thirties that works backstage for the Auction; after a child is bought, they are taken to him to have a specialised tattoo branded upon them to mark them as bought. The Artist is never seen without a paintbrush in his mouth, endlessly wheeling about his laberynth of a studio on a creaky old wheely-chair.
He is smarmy and has his loyalty bought for him, and is abnormally fond of touching his subjects. Alongside this he is vulgar and obsequious, sucking up to higher forms of power - such as the people who ensure his paycheck - but is cruel to all others.
His voice fluctuates due to his addiction to tobacco, and is very seedy and much like a con-man's as he tries to peddle.
Ah, hello - another one. *eyes Cecily and grins* Lovely... What colour would you like for your Lover's tattoo, Mister... er... *sheepish pause* A thousand and three pardons to me, my dear sir, but I don't yet know you - you've not come by before, I don't think.
*pensively* Sheerewater...? Now, why does that name ring a bell...?
*awkardly* Perhaps... say, in about a week, a month, maybe even a year, you might come back and change your mind; some of the rarer cases choose this option if they are unsure *suddenly sharp, money being his prize* You have paid, have you not?
Ashe Sheerewater (m/24)- embodiment of envy; charming, witty, relentless zest for life; self-pitying, jealous, inflexible when thinking of the past, covers up the pain with laughter. Constantly messy white-blonde hair, hazel eyes, 5'11", thin 'whippet' face that is always grinning (unless thinking of his deceased love) with moderate freckles across his nose and cheeks, jaw and nose crooked from numerous fights with his brother/master, fairly tall and stocky but is not athletic because he suffers from asthma.
Ashe has a relatively carefree manner of speaking, finding a joke in everything he says and does, but his voice is vaguely deep and a little bit sexy - he's a bit of a ladies man, but nowhere near as much as his brother.
*under his breath, leaning in close to Cecily's ear* Why, hello there, my lovely - oh, don't look at me like that, dear Cecily. You ARE my lovely. I did just buy you, after all
*somewhat affronted, impersonating a pompous aristocrat* My name is Sheerewater, and I am offended, sir, that you would think she is my Lover; and my Companion will not be wanting one at all.
*laughing recklessly, running towards a second-storey window to leap out of it* Not to worry, Miss Malvern - I'm an expert on all things recklessly impulsive! Now jump!
Elsie Lovelock (f/23)- embodiment of greed; adaptable, devoted; possessive, indecisive as to what she wants (everything and everyone, all at once), cowardly, shy, over-emotional. Curly dark brown hair usually in a high ponytail, brown eyes, 5'9", oddly disproportionate features but nonetheless quite pretty (slanted eyes, tipped up nose), fairly plump with a couple of moles (one on left cheek, some on shoulders etc.) pale brown tan skin like mocha, tomboyish, romantic affections hopping from one person to another (wanting everyone to love and accept her as nobody ever did except her brother), bit of a kleptomaniac. Greatly respected and cared for her Master and was once a Bodyguard, until she saw her twin brother, Alfie, get shot and has nightmares about it and she experiences a 'trigger' at particularly loud noises and has a fear of blood - suffers from chronic anxiety. She collects objects that remind her of her brother in order to keep herself sane, even if it means stealing them.
Elsie is fond of singing, and as such her speaking voice is very sweet and chipper like birdsong. She is constantly giggling and positive about life, until something inevitably sets off her trigger.
*giggling*Welcome! Well, you're a pretty one, aren't you? Nice choice, Ashe!
*angrily* Hey, Ashe - do you ever think clouds look down from the sky and say, hey - that one's shaped like an idiot? Because I'm pretty sure that cloud is following you and laughing.
*coldly, resentfully* Don't ever make the mistake of making a person your everything. Because when they're gone you're left with nothing
Scarlett Mercy (f/20)- embodiment of pride; dependable, clever, imaginative, sassy; superficial, conceited, rude. Cropped straight blonde hair grey eyes, 5'11", plump like a peach and fully round, but she doesn't care at all whether or not she is found to be attractive by anyone other than herself. She is comfortable in her own skin, and will bark down any person that tries to insult her. She is snarky and sassy, and often austere until properly acquainted with someone, making her seem harsh and rude to newcomers. Despite this, she is actually very kind at heart and lives to make others feel good about themselves, as she has known from experience the pains of loathing yourself for who you are.
Scarlett has a very sharp voice, aiding her initial facade of coldness, that always has a somewhat condescending tone.
*upon seeing Cecily for the first time, angrily* Oh, for God's sake, Ashe - are you really going to do this to yourself? More fool you for choosing a pretty redhead, again...
*losing her temper* Oh shut up and get over this stupid mindset! Beauty is pain, and pain can be terrible - but you are terribly beautiful, like any other woman to walk the earth, now will you please stop crying and get back to work!
It's better to be hated for what you are than loved for what you're not - I accept that I am hatefully beautiful, but who am I to worry about people who despise me for what I was born with?
**The Man will swear repeatedly
The Lord is an incredibly old, incredibly fat man who shares a dark past with multiple characters, as is later to be revealed. He is vile and obscene, and has a habit of collecting young girls and boys for his bed. He is by far one of the most disgusting men you can imagine, and is personal friends with the Auctioneer - due to the incredible paycheck he is able to provide.
The Man: *aggressively* Come on, you brat!
*heatedly* Thirty-thousand, Lover *voice change* Forty-thousand, Lover *voice change* Fifty-thousand, Lover!
The Lord: Nine-hundred-thousand, Lover! And if any man dare challenge me further I shall personally see him destroyed! This girl WILL be mine!
The head of The Auction, a vain and greedy man with a temper as hot as the fire in his eyes when it comes to his never-ending income. He is maniacal and cruel, and has no regard at all for human nature - when it comes to his 'children' he believes them too ignorant and stupid to be worth anything to society, save for the slavery he forces them into via selling them at pageants each night.
The Auctioneer is fakem cold and conniving. His voice, while working the auction stage at pageants, is full of energy and exuberance for the crowds of wealthy 'customers', much like Caesar Flickerman in The Hunger Games, but beneath his perfumed facade is a heart so blackened with greed it may as well be coal.
*grabbing Cecily, tormenting her in a soft voice* A girl with a heart of fire... You'll be a Lover worth more than a pretty penny, my dear.
*shocked out of breath* Five million... F-Five million...? *panting, beginning to laugh breathlessly* Five million...! *bursting into manical laughter* Five million! Any advances on five million!?
*hissing with fury, almost spitting in anger* Get them!
Anna is 11, a child rescued by Cecily and Thomas on a mission like Ashe's to infiltrate pageants and buy children to join them in their rebel camp in the mountains. She is blind, but her eyes are extraordinarily beautiful due to a case of heterochromia, meaning that one eyes is brown and the other is blue. She has a deep affinity for nature, her mother having raised her in a cottage in the forest before the Auction cut down the woodland to make way for their exploits. Anna was blinded by hot cinders flying into her eyes as the Auction burned her house to the ground, her parents inside it.
She deeply loves Cecily for having rescued her, especially since she so reminds her of her mother, asking if she and Thomas will be her new mother and father.
Anna has an ethereal attachment to nature, cherishing her new home in the mountains as she is one with the trees where the Auction do not know where to find her.
Despite being very young, she has quite a low and calm voice, and is very rarely girlish or excitable, but is very serene almost all the time, as well as speaking in a manner that is mature beyond her years.
The difference between freedom and slavery is one thin line...
The world sees you as who you appear to be, and not who you truly are. I suppose I'd prefer to be blind, because I have no choice but to see people for themselves.
It's not that I don't like living; I don't want to die. But with a world like this, where people can't be who they want to be, I'd rather just not exist for a while...
Ellie Blake (f/17)- embodiment of sloth, adaptable, confident, witty, resourceful; lazy, short attention span, self-involved, shallow. Long straight blonde hair streaked with brown like wheat stalks, usually in a messy high bun, blue eyes tinged with green pigment, 5'2", sweet face with plump cheeks, small nose and mouth and large almond-shaped eyes, little round ears, smooth skin, very flexible and strong - adept at climbing up trees and staying there as it suits her mood, as well as escaping her role of responsibility and lounging around all day - very lazy and would prefer to sleep all day rather than contribute anything to life in general - and has a surprisingly dark sense of humour. Used to be a Lover, and has a pale pink tattoo upon her left shoulder to prove it.
Ellie is constantly dropping off asleep, and whenever she's awake she's yawning. She has a low voice for a girl, slow and sleepy like the rest of her.
*yawning repeatedly* If the Auction ever were to catch up and decided to kill us all, I'd far rather die in comfort than up fighting - it's just too much effort, you know?
*irritably, resentfully* Yes, yes, I'm aware that violence isn't the only answer. But it IS an answer... God knows it's why I'm here...
*earnestly* Cecily, for God's sake... Not that there is any stupid God to answer my stupid prayers - where was He when every night I was shoved into a bed that wasn't mine, where I tried and tried to cry myself to sleep but couldn't get so much as a minute before I woke up screaming because of the hands that were touching me... Don't you see...? *beginning to cry* I couldn't sleep, not ever. I was trapped, trapped by the arms that refused to let me go. But then I broke free. And now here... I can sleep. And I love to sleep, Cecily. I don't think you even understand. When I'm sleeping, I'm not sad; I'm not angry; I'm not lonely; I'm not anything. I'm nothing... *pause, sniffs* Which is what we all are, when you think about it...
Robin Laute (m/19)- embodiment of gluttony; resourceful, humorous; self-indulging, sceptical, manipulative. Robin is genderfluid, and doesn't know whether they'd perfer to be a man or a woman, and constantly change depening on their current mood. Nobody in the encampment actually knows what gender they are. Ginger, green/brown eyes, 5,7", whole constellations of freckles across their skin, slight frowning notion intheir brows, large hands, skinny, thin lips, defined jaw and cheekbones, simply obsessed with food - hardly got anything when they were a Servant, so he gorges themself on anything and everything. Robin is also pansexual, and has an unrequited love for Adrian, and is rarely anywhere without him.
He has quite a high, girlish voice, but is very assertive and proud.
*eagerly* Saddle up, boys - we got ourselves a bronco
*reminiscently* How would I describe my childhood? Probably with adjectives
*as if in deep philosophical thought* When you look up at the stars and realise what an insignificant speck of lint you are, compared to the humongous immensity of the infinite universe, you've got to just stop and ask yourself - how much does it really matter that I may or may not have finished your food without your consent?
Adrian Sheerewater (m/20)- embodiment of love, persistent, confident, one big innuendo, a romantic at heart; possessive, conceited, impulsive. Short straight blonde hair, dark brown eyes with a green rim, 5'9", thin face but still thicker than his brother's, with an equally crooked nose, very full lips and lots of freckles, wide/thin mouth, shorter than his brother but more gangling, flirtatious and relentless.
Adrian is bisexual and will relentlessly flirt with anything even remotely human, andhas no control due to never having been allowed freedom with his sexuality before due to the crushing design of society
His voice is very low and constantly suggestive, every word out of his mouth being a never-ending innuendo. The only time he becomes serious is when Ashe is in serious danger
*flirting with Cecily* No need to be so stiff, love - after all, that's MY job

*incredibly afraid, knowing what he has to do to save his brother's life* Ashe, no! Don't you dare come any closer - I-I won't forgive you if you do *steadily starting to cry, but trying his best to hide it* Here... take this - you'll need it more than I will... *long pause, before finally saying in a tiny voice* I love you...
