  • The world’s largest chain of fast food restaurants has a new commitment to freshness.

McDonald’s is partnering with local farms within a 100-mile range of each restaurant to supply fresher food.

  • Starting in Lancaster Pennsylvania, a handful of McDonald’s are going to work side by side with local farmers.

A Local Farm Festival will kick off the program and show off the harvest of fruits and vegetables. Lancaster’s residents will be able to taste samples and vote on their favorite ingredients, from potatoes to eggs. The winners will be able to get one free meal a day for a year. The festival will also include games, music, and of course, food from McDonald’s.

  • The McDonald’s company cares deeply about their customers. A lot of thought and care goes into where their delicious food comes from.  And starting this fall, Lancaster County McDonald’s are committing to source up to 50% of their ingredients locally.

Founded in the United States in 1940, the company began as a barbecue restaurant operated by Richard and Maurice McDonald. McDonald’s is the most popular fast food restaurant around the world.
