Project Overview

These are auditions for a project based on my Ranma 1/2 fanfic, The Big Night at Furinkan High.

As for the story itself, this is it. Principal Kuno, who took it upon himself to be merciful to his students for once, has decided to bring a concept from American high schools he came across while he was in Hawaii so that they can have some fun for one night. That concept is of course Prom Night. What follows is a mixture of comedy, love and martial arts. Of course, since this is Ranma 1/2 we're talking about, a lot of you probably guessed that part already.


Since I now have a Patreon and a Ko-Fi, I have ultimately decided to make this a deferred project. This is for those looking to make original music for a scene at the Prom where a couple dances with the couple in question being the main couple of the series, Ranma and Akane. For the song, I'm looking for a Ska song about the ups and downs of their crazy relationship. In terms of lyrics, they can be about Ranma and Akane, but they have to be subtle. It can either be sung from Ranma's perspective, Akane's perspective or possibly both in the form of a duet between them.

Due to concerns about potential copyright claims with some of the songs I originally used for each couple's dance in the original fic, I've decided to start looking for possible musicians to either cover the original songs or provide original music to use in their place (strong lean towards original music.) For this, I'm looking for someone who can sing either Reel Big Fish's I Know You Too Well To Like You Anymore or if at all possible, an Original ska-style song about their relationship. If you go with the latter, the song needs a lot of energy to it since it's both a Ska song and it plays during a fight scene. The lyrics can be about them, but they have to be subtle.

What I'm looking for is an 80's-style power ballad about uncertain love. Regarding the lyrics, I want it to be about Ryoga and Ukyo without it being blatantly obvious that it's about them. It can either sound like it's being sung from Ryoga's perspective, Ukyo's perspective or if you'd like, a duet between them.

This is for those looking to make original music for the scenes at the Prom where a couple dances. This one is for the reality challenged Kendo Captain and the self-admitted gold digging extortionist of the Tendo household, Tatewaki Kuno and Nabiki Tendo. For the song, I was thinking of having it be a Pop-Punk song about all the stuff Nabiki puts Kuno through. Lyricwise, the words can be about them, but not so blatantly obvious. It can either sound like it's being sung from either Kuno's perspective, Nabiki's perspective or both in the form of a duet. The song's title also needs to have a swear word in it as to prompt Sasuke's response of asking Kuno about it's inappropriateness to be played at a school event.

I have no clue what role to file this under, so I'm going with both Music Composer and Singer.

For those who want to do covers, the songs in question are as follows and in the order they were used in the original fic: Is This Love by Whitesnake, The Bitch Song by Bowling for Soup, I Know You Too Well to Like You Anymore by Reel Big Fish and an English version of The Ballad of Ranma and Akane.

For those who want to do original music, I'm thinking about having the song be about the respective couple it's used for (Ryoga and Ukyo, Kuno and Nabiki and Ranma and Akane) without it being blatantly obvious that it's about them. It'd be pretty weird for a couple at a Prom to dance to a song with lyrics that seem to know an awful lot about them.
