BAYSIDE HEIGHTS: GAME JAM VISUAL NOVEL
Project Overview
CONTENT WARNINGS: mentions of sexual violence & language.
I am participating in the Spooktober Visual Novel Jam! Unless you are a main character, you won't receive much lines except for maybe 7-10 reusable ones I will throw in for a majority of the game, so don't worry about workload or deadlines. There will not be much. If you are a main character, you may have to record 3-5 scenes for me.
Two to three more side characters may come into the scene later.
SYNOPSIS:
Thousands of files are hidden in the Bayside Heights Police Precinct. If you walk through the doors, make your way past the captain’s office, and take a right, you’ll come across a door. Beyond that door lie hundreds of boxes, all filled with case files caked with dust.
Cold cases. Unsolved criminal investigations. Homicides. Disappearances. Sexual assault. Most of these are stored in one of these boxes and pushed into the dark. Nearly all of them are never reopened.
This case is different.
The murder of Jamie Ballfisher is recent– A current investigation. But as more is uncovered, an entirely new enigma comes to take over Bayside Heights’s journalists completely.
A cold case.
A sexual abuse case.
Something that Trey never wanted anybody to uncover.
Something that has come back to haunt him.

...Look. I know I get paid a policeman's salary, but that doesn't mean we can just spend money all the time.

Right! Any memorabilia Jamie has from 2009 could help us track them down.

Good to know. Hi, Mrs. Ballfisher, Bayside Heights Police Force here. We’ve come to ask you a few questions about your husband, if that’s alright with you.
Do you have any photographs of the team? Photographs. Any kind of photo evidence that we could see. Anything that can be used to identify these friends by their faces. Names. Maybe we could find a yearbook.
You all worked exceptionally hard. Discovering a dead body is straining on the mind. I don’t want you all to strain yourselves over this case.

We were here to observe, check for threats, and make initial observations before anybody else. I noticed nothing out of the ordinary.
Sorry to interrupt, let’s speed this up, shall we? I think it’s important we get to the reason why we’re here.
Before we go through with this, we need you to understand that we are recording this conversation, as it is basic protocol. Do you understand?
ROLE: Secondary Character
VOICE TYPE: Male, sharp, mid 20s, enthusiastic, expressive, loud, airheaded

It's also a motel, remember? Other people are trying to live in peace.

Damn, pipsqueak. You know a lot about tea.
So do you think we should head there now?
Alright. This conversation is going to be recorded– Is that okay?
ROLE: Side Character
VOICE TYPE: Female, early 40s, soft-spoken, tired, weary, solemn
Why don’t you guys have a seat while I make you all some tea?

I have a picture. Right before we tried to contact Jamie, I asked someone at our meeting spot to take it.
Well, Jamie, Bennett, Greene, and I were supposed to go on a trip. We were gonna camp by the beach for a few days, since Jamie lives closer to Dirtback
Trey! Yes, yes, I do know you! You were the star linebacker!
ROLE: Side Character
VOICE TYPE: Female, nasal, early 20s, informative
Jamie Ballfisher, right by Dirtback. Real close to the border. The call was directed to us– So he has to live in Bayside. Here’s the location,
At this point, there aren’t any vital signs of life. We were too late.
He's been dead a few days. Found mutilated. A strange case.
