Arcane Nato is a modern fantasy  audio drama series taking place in the early 2000s. It follows the story of two mercenaries, Forfri and Lugh, who have fallen from grace after being kicked out of their mercenary band, the Minute Girls. Now on their solo-career, they must fight and struggle to return themselves to success, and redeem their names. This will mean taking on all sorts of jobs in the anarcho-capitalist, war ridden, corporation infested realms where even the very gods themselves are not above greed.

Season 1 is currently ongoing. The episodes will range roughly from 30-50 minutes and there will be roughly 10 episodes this season depending on how the story progresses. Episode releases are ongoing.

Latest Updates

  • The Merch Decision

So just a quick update on the Merch role. A decision was made recently. However the one chosen for the role was not on casting call club. Probably should have mentioned that we also promote our casting call on Bluesky and Discord. Apologies.

Regardless, thank you to all who had auditioned. Even if you weren't picked, know we appreciate your time and efforts. Stay tuned for more roles. You never know, you could get the next one!

  • Closing soon, will make a new one.

Hey there friends. Seems that this project page will be closing this Saturday. Not to worry, I'll reopen it soon, and I'm adding a new role. Stay tuned.

  • Extended Deadline for Valia

I apologize but I didn't actually mean to set the gorgon pop star's deadline this early. So I'll be extending it to February 15th. Thank you for your patience.

  • Auditions for Merch are closed

Apologies for the quiet. Been a little busy lately.

So the auditions for Merch are officially closed as of yesterday. We have received so many auditions for him, that we will need a few days to make a decision. I won't lie, all your amazing takes will make this a tough choice to make.

We will have a decision made by the 27th of this month. Stay tuned!

He/him

Age: 2 (he bird)

Voice and Accent: No accent, just cutesy bird voice. (A reference for sound ideas: https://youtu.be/wNsBurEq62M?si=BcATpPWhSLlWXA86 )

The trusted friend and pet of Calliope Alexandrou, and a magical owl that’s job is to give Calliope a way to reliably communicate with her mother. Other than that, this little guy is just an owl with an adorable, optimistic personality. He loves his owner, and would die for her if need be. He’s also rather smart, even for a typical owl. Somehow able to understand human speech and respond to it accordingly.

Character Notes:

  • The owl does not speak any actual words. Only communicates in chirps, squeaks, and maybe even coos. Being part of the Little Owl species, he doesn’t actually hoot (sad I know).

  • He is a very good listener, able to accurately respond with his bird noises to conversation appropriately.

  • Line 1: [Greeting chirp]

  • Line 2: [Confused coo]

  • Line 3: [Scared bird noises]

Merch (Just Merch)

He/him

Age: 34

Voice and Accent: Male in mid 30s, rough and mischievous. American, Italian or Australian accent.

Summary and Personality:Sly, charismatic, witty, and a downright loveable scumbag. He has mastered the art of the con man, weaponizing his very words, and able to swindle you down to your underwear and then some. Doing all of this with a lazy smile. Despite how scummy he can be, he’s not a monster. Believe it or not he does have morals. Though they are known for being somewhat flexible, even a flimsy piece of metal can bend so far.

Once a merc himself in his youth, he has since taken a side step from that life. Feeling that risking your neck so often for cash was just not worth it, or even all that profitable. So he claims anyway.

But he does hold a soft spot for the two passengers that readily accompany him on his favorite double decker bus, and perhaps some mercs he has grown fond of, if not for them being entertaining to him. Such as a grumpy scott he loves to argue with.

Character Notes:

  • Merch is a swindler and a con man with good connections to places and people and isn’t afraid to do some dubious things, but he does have standards he lives by. He will never sell anything that isn’t top notch quality. Even when insulting someone, he nevers insults their mother. He will not deal in moving people. He won’t swindle the poor and helpless (though that is up to his perspective). And above all else, he won’t kill without good reason.

  • Underneath the bravado and manipulation, Merch is a scared man who fears the wrath of the Mercenary Guild’s legal departments and his own mother.

  • He’s a smoker both from stress and from being told he looked more favorable to potential customers.

  • He gives various backstories to why he became an arms dealer instead of continuing life as a merc: Too dangerous of business. A tragic disbanding. A hateful betrayal. His mother’s insistence. New opportunities. Boredom. Whatever the reason was, he won’t speak truthfully about it.

  • Despite what he may say, Merch cares deeply about his two roommates who share his bus/shop space. Long ago they were people that piqued his curiosity and nothing more, but now they are the rocks that keep him going.

  • Line 2: [Cocky] Oh yeah, there it is. The look on your face right now. Priceless!

  • Line 3: [Cold] It’s one thing to call me cheap but you dare insult my goods as “cheap, poorly made ripoffs”? You madam are asking for trouble.

Maria “Dancer” Vazquez

She/her

Age: 25

Voice and Accent: Female in her mid 20s, strong hit of bravado and arrogance. Spanish accent.

Summary and Personality:A feared, respected, but also highly admired mercenary in the industry. She is referred to as the “Dancing Spaniard” or just Dancer. This comes from her love and utilization of traditional Spanish dance that she somehow turned into a martial art for the commercial battlefield. Her speed and agility are so graceful, making her whole movement in a fight just seem like one beautifully choreographed dance of death.

A woman of undying confidence, extraordinary ability, but extremely arrogant and downright snooty. Coming from a very wealthy family, she just has a natural habit of looking down on those she considers “lesser” than her or anyone of her caliber. Those who have earned her respect have very much earned it, showing to be equal or even superior in her eyes. Though this is a privilege that only a select few have. One of them being her boss and former lover, Jessie.

She not only looks up to Jessie, but essentially worships her like a god. Despite Jessie not showing the same affection towards her, even constantly giving her the cold shoulder, Maria still is madly in love with Jessie and will go as far to die for her. Something Jessie isn’t afraid to exploit and use to manipulate Maria. To which Maria blindly follows her every command.

Like any human being, she is indeed vulnerable in some regard. For her, it’s her deep fear that all of this grand facade she puts on will be whisked away, and she will be left with nothing. Her image is everything to her, and once that’s gone, she can’t even recognize herself. To break her spirit, or shatter her ego is essentially a death sentence to her.

Overall, you have yourself a woman who hides her deep insecurities with bravado and spectacle. But once that’s gone, there is only someone who deeply clings onto the one person she madly loves, and that grip is slowly slipping. .

Character Notes:

  • Maria is bilingual, knowing English and Spanish. Spanish of course being her native tongue. She naturally has a habit of mixing spanish words into english sentences, and often insulting someone with spanish words, or even cursing someone under her breath in the language.

  • Unless the facade is broken, she always speaks like she is on a stage performing, her tone always having some hint of arrogance.

  • Line 3: [Deeply affectionate] ¡Jessie, mi amor! You poor thing. Please, let me dress your wounds personally!

“Mind Bender” Valia Nikolaidis

They/them

Age: 22

Voice and Accent: Androgynous voice, early 20s. British accent (any flavor).

Personality:

The voice of a siren, and powerful mind bending magic at their fingertips. Allowing you to see, hear, and feel things that aren’t even there, having you run away in a panic so as to avoid firing a single round. This is Valia, the mind bender. Once a popular gorgon pop star now having gone gun for hire. A wild, unexpected change of careers to be sure, but not without reason.

For most of their life, Valia had to essentially fake who they truly were. Having to put on a mask and dance for the very music industry that essentially owned them. Having to fake being a native Greek, going under pronouns they never wanted, and all because the studio told them to. This life of no real control or privacy had made them deeply depressed, and constantly forcing a smile to hide the misery they truly felt in this monetized hell. Even with the lap of luxury that it did indeed bring, it doesn’t really bring Valia any purpose, or fill the void in their very soul. No control and no meaning.

But once freed, Valia begins to heal. Showing the person that the company had been locking away even from Valia themself. A kind, intelligent, and witty person who is naturally perceptive of others, and a talented illusionist magic user to boot.

Though if there is one thing Valia struggles with, it’s being able to efficiently interact with others. Performing was one thing, but having been otherwise isolated from the general public, Valia is only now learning how to socialize normally. A jarring, often confusing experience for them. But with their new found friends among the mercs they travel with, they get better everyday.

Overall, you have a talented person who was sheltered and controlled until now. It’s scary but also thrilling to them, learning something new everyday. Even if it’s through a mistake. Meeting new people and staying with the ones by their choice, rather than what they were stuck with. A new life of freedom and adventure awaits Valia, and they will eagerly embrace it.

Character Notes:

  • While Valia is really good at entertaining, their normal social interaction is kind of lacking. Often struggling to pick up on social queues or to how to appropriately respond in some situations.

  • Valia hates their own music they used to create. It holds a lot of trauma for them, and it doesn’t even feel like theirs. It doesn't feel like art to Valia, just a product. The way the company wanted.

  • Despite having to fake being a Greek, Valia knows very little about Greek culture or even mythology.

Language:
  • english
Voice description:

  • Line 1: [Happy] That is right lovely it is! What is this called again? A gyro?

  • Line 2: [Sad] Sadly I know nothing about my mom. Gods, I hardly even know my own dad. Just that she was a gorgon and he a human. Apparently gorgon genes win.

  • Line 3: [Playful threat] So what do you gents want? Childhood trauma, sleep paralysis demons? Oh! Maybe deepest darkest fears? Take your pick!

"Silent Death" Munji Itaru

[Deadline is February 1st, at 11:59 Pm EST]

“Silent Death” Munji Itaru

She/her

Age: 19

Voice and Accent: Female, young adult. Japanese accent.

Summary and personality:

It is said that if you see her, the chances are, she saw you first. But more than likely, you'll be dead before you can figure out the general direction she’s even in. Munji’s shots are just that good.

Serving as the reconnaissance and sniper of her team, she's often the first to be encountered before anyone else in the Minute Girls. As it's her job to soften up targets from afar before the others come in for the killing blow.

Her nickname comes from the fact that she hardly ever speaks a word to anyone. It's not that she's incapable, but just chooses not to most of the time. The most you'll get out of her is a sigh, grunt, or muttering something in Japanese. Typically she communicates through single words or gestures. With how close she is with the team, they’re able to understand what every grunt, sigh, and death glare meant.

The only one she ever truly opened up to was Lugh. As she was the only person who seemed to get her, talk to her in her native tongue, and cook the food that reminds her of home. She even gained the nickname of Lugh’s little sister, for she seemed like a completely different person when near her. Just Lugh being around changed her mood instantly. So when she had left the Minute Girls with Forfri, it was devastating to Munji, and only made her more of a shut-in.

Not a day goes by that she asks her leader, Jessie, where Lugh had gone. Jessie would never answer. The one person that made life in foreign lands easier for her was now gone, and Munji struggles with it even now. Terrified of the strange place that was the greek realms, so alien to her compared to her homeland. Now with no one to guide her, that journey has only become treacherous.

Character Notes:

  • Munji understands English just fine, but for some reason just chooses not to speak it herself. The only words she ever willingly speaks are in Japanese.

  • When Lugh is around, the once cold and grouchy gal turns into an energetic, social butterfly. A completely different person to how she typically acts. Like someone being ecstatic around the person they deeply admire.

  • Cold
  • Line 1: [Dismissive grunt]

  • Line 2: [“Okay” Sigh]

  • Line 3: [Insulting someone in Japanese] - (go about this how you like, just make it funny and nasty)
