An Englishman Out Of State: An Old Time Radio Style Comedy
Project Overview
We are producing pilot in the style of, and to pay homage, to the old American Old time radio comedy shows of the 40s and 50s. Think Our Miss Brooks crossed with Jack Benny with a sprinkle of British humor, and you have an idea of what we're doing. There are announcements, weird niche references and catchphrases; the main one being "I eyed and I lied, what's the problem?"
The show follows an Englishman's adventures in the USA. We are looking for actors to play characters in a pilot episode, before we decide on a series. The pilot follows the Englishman as he and his friend Bernie, attempt a night out in a local bar. We already have the main actor. The pilot will be about 12 minutes long or so, and will be broadcast and distributed through our online radio station SouthWaves Radio UK plus further opportunities for distribution.

A typical womaniser who loves going for nights out, and drinking beer. In his mid 30s, he thinks he's number one but he isn't. A bit of a Fonz type character.

Bernies girlfriend who drags him out of the bar at the end. She's feisty and shares similar characteristics to both Friday and Martha.

A more masculine character with a low voice and a couple of comments in the piece. She takes no prisoners, and even threatens to break Bernie in two! She's basically a character who delivers a couple of punchlines

Looking for an old fashioned old time radio light entertainment Announcer. A sharp prescience that is instantly recognizable. Although he is professional, he's regularly sarcastic and often refuses to do things the right way. In short, an announcer who can't really be bothered.

Grumpy bartender who's heard the "is your name Jack Benny" line so many times because his father Benny opened the bar. His intention is to be pretty one dimensional. I'm not looking for an impressionist, but if anyone can nail the line "now cut that out", then you're the perfect person to play the role!

A light and bubbly American personality who is taken by the English accent, but has a rather recognizable voice and laugh. A tad naive in places also.
