Akira Fandub
Project Overview
Akira is a 1988 anime film directed by Katsuhiro Otomo. It is generally regarded as the film that brought anime to the west in it's true form you see today and is now generally regarded as a masterpiece of animation.
It is a favourite of mine, and I've been wanting to do a fandub of it for a while.
What I'm looking for:
-NO IMPRESSIONS PLEASE. While it is cool that you can impersonate the original Japanese/English actors, I'd rather your own take on the character.
-Good mic. Not looking for the best mic ever from everyone, but a really good clear, quality mic should do. I'm pretty lenient when it comes to this, but still.
-Able to do deadlines. As this is a movie, recording of the actual dialogue will happen almost as soon as casting is done. Make sure your able to meet that deadline. If you've been cast and you cannot, please contact me as soon as possible.

Out of all the Espers, this one plays the biggest role.
It's too much for Tetsuo... And for the three of us also... And for Akira too.

Tetsuo's girlfriend. Despite him not being the best boyfriend to her, she still sticks by him and deeply loves him.
This role contains quite a bit of screaming, so prepare your vocal cords.

Kaneda's best friend since childhood and the main antagonist of the film. Having an infrieority complex, he highly respects and admire Kaneda while at the same resenting him for being over protective. After his psychic power awaken, he quickly goes off the deep end.
This role requires strong vocal cords due to the high amount of screaming.
(impressed and in awe) Twin ceramic rotor drives on each wheel! And these look like computer controlled anti-lock brakes! Wow, 200 horses at 12,000 RPM.
(crazy) AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! You want me to enroll in that kindergarden and live happily ever after, huh?! "Be quiet, do what you're told, take your medicine every day" and end up all shriveled like those kids!?
(yell as loudly as possibly) KANEDA!!!!!!!!
Another member of the Capsule's. He is the first one of the group to witness the powers of Tetsuo.
(sarcastically, loudly) You lost me halfway through sir!

A member of the Capsules, and a close friend of both Kaneda and Tetsuo.
Something seemed strange the second I saw his face. It's odd. He was wearing what looked like a white hospital gown. He acted like a different person. Yamagata asked him if he was really Tetsuo or if he was someone else.
(angry) Ya, you sick mother!
A young revoulutionary who Kaneda falls in love with. She is a member of an anti-government faction, and evantually gains psychic powers of her own through the Espers.
Amoebas don't build houses and bridges, they only eat.
All I know is what Roy said. He said that Akira has achieved pure energy.
I’m talking about the life force that exists even perhaps in water and atmosphere. Perhaps even in space dust. If they evolved, they must hold some memory locked inside. If it could reach back, even before the beginning of time…
The head of the government project which is inadvertely lead to the destruction of Neo-Tokyo back 30 years prior. Unlike much of government officials in the film, the Colonel is actually the most benovlelent and principled, and has a code of honor.
My job isn't to believe or disbelieve. It is to act or not act!
The people lost their pride in our great achievement a long time ago. Now all these fools care about is indulging themselves.

A carefree gang leader who is the leader of the capsules and the main protagonist of the film. He is best friends with Tetsuo and, while he teases him a lot, cares deeply for him like a younger brother.
Generally speaking, he is arrogant, unfriendly, and at times violent. However, throughout the story, he slowly becomes a more herioc character.
This role was originally self-cast, but I decided to make it open. I still plan to voice the character, however if someone comes up with a absoulutely outstanding interpertation of the character, I'll cast them and I'll take a different role.
(sarcastically) What's with the getup, huh? You goin' to a funeral?
Come on... don't they say the only foolish questions are unasked ones?
