Takeuchi (竹内, Takeuchi?) is a supporting character in the Koe no Katachi series. He was the homeroom teacher of Shōya Ishida, Shōko Nishimiya and their peers during their sixth grade year at Suimon Elementary.
Personality:
Takeuchi appears to be a rather uncaring and self-righteous individual, especially in his outlook on the bullying of both Shōko Nishimiya and Shōya Ishida. Soon after Shōko’s transfer into his class, Takeuchi begins to see her as a burden and is quick to hand some of his responsibility for her onto Naoka, who is also another student he should be guiding.
Voice:
Takeuchi's voice should be calm and authoritative, with a clear and steady tone that reflects his role as a mentor and guide. His voice carries a sense of confidence and wisdom, often imbued with a subtle warmth that makes him approachable and trustworthy. There should be an underlying firmness in his voice, indicating his ability to provide guidance and support while maintaining discipline.
For best reference, refer to his voice sounding like the English Dub of Shōta Aizawa from My Hero Academia.
Your Lines:
Takeuchi will have a total of 4 lines throughout the complete run time of this video. For your convenience, I have provided a link to the comic panels you will be reading from.

(Calmly attempting to get Shoko Nishimiya to introduce herself to the class) All right. Introduce yourself. *pauses* Oh... Introduce yourself.
(Calm with a hint of irritation. He is counseling Shoya Ishida) You're still the one who started it aren't you? What right does the boy who bullied Shoko have to judge his friends?
(Angrily yelling. He is fed up with Shoya Ishida) Stand up Ishida!!!! We all know it was you, you little twerp!!
Yuzuru Nishimiya (西宮 結弦, Nishimiya Yudzuru?) is a major character in the Koe no Katachi series.
She is the granddaughter of Ito Nishimiya, the youngest of the two daughters of Yaeko Nishimiya and the younger sister of Shōko Nishimiya. Yuzuru is a third-year junior high school student (9th grade), but she rarely attends and instead takes photos with her camera around town.
Personality:
Yuzuru struggles with understanding herself, choosing to invest her time into her sister rather than herself. However, the end of the series shows Yuzuru finally beginning to become her own person and allowing her sister to explore who she wants to be.
Voice Description:
Yuzuru Nishimiya's voice should be youthful and expressive, conveying both strength and vulnerability. She often exhibits a caring yet protective tone. Her voice should have a slightly androgynous quality, with a clear, articulate manner of speaking that reflects her supportive nature.
Yuzuru Nishimiya will have 5 total lines throughout the video. For your convenience, I have provided a link to the manga panels you will be reading.

(Calmly, after seeing her sister talk with Shoya Ishida) You could be plenty happy without bringing him into your life... Why're you doing this? You're such a dummy... Sis.
(Calmly while answering the door to Shoya) Are you really her friend? She's not here. So go away. If you're just here to satisfy yourself, you should leave.
Kazuki Shimada (島田 一旗, Shimada Kazuki?) is a supporting character, he is featured as a minor antagonist in the Koe no Katachi series.
He is Shōya Ishida’s former friend who went to elementary school with him where Kazuki participated in the bullying of Shōko Nishimiya, but never admitted to being involved and actively began bullying Shōya after helping pin the blame entirely on him. After graduating high school, Kazuki moves to France to study music production.
Personality:
Although Kazuki's face makes him appear zoned out or uninterested, he is actually quite the opposite. As a child, Kazuki almost always involved himself in Shōya Ishida's antics, as his daredevil mindset complimented Kazuki’s carefree yet enthusiastic attitude. Unlike his friend, Kazuki appeared to be a more responsible and hard working student, attending cram school so he could succeed in middle school and beyond. He may also have been a member of the Boy Scouts, indicated by the text on the flag he carried around.
Voice Description:
Kazuki Shimada's voice should be confident and assertive, with a slightly rough edge that hints at his brash personality. His tone often carries a sense of arrogance and dominance, reflecting his role as a bully. However, there should be moments when his voice softens, revealing a more complex character with underlying insecurities and guilt.
Kazuki Shimada has a total of 1 line throughout the video.

(Calmly) You guys better stay away from that Shoya Ishida. He's a bully.
Naoka Ueno (植野 直花, Ueno Naoka?) is a supporting character in the Koe no Katachi series.
She was Shōya Ishida's classmate and friend back in elementary school until she denied any part in helping him bully Shōko Nishimiya. When she meets Shōya and Shōko again in high school, old feelings of infatuation and resentment begin to resurface.
Personality:
Naoka is rather blunt about her negative feelings towards people she dislikes, especially with Shōko Nishimiya. Where she struggles is in her ability to showcase her more positive qualities, such as her soft and caring side, often resorting to rather rude and insensitive approaches to certain interactions. While it can be argued that her ability to confront her own negative feelings is respectable when used rationally, Naoka's tendency for rash actions and anger causes her to lash out in several instances.
Voice Desccription:
Naokoa Ueno's voice should be sharp and energetic, with a hint of impatience that reflects her straightforward and sometimes abrasive personality. Her tone often comes across as assertive and slightly sarcastic, especially when she's frustrated or angry. However, there should be an underlying warmth and vulnerability that emerges in introspective moments. Her voice should convey the complexity of her character, balancing her tough exterior with glimpses of her genuine emotions and regret.
Naoka Ueno will have a total of 4 lines throughout the video.

(Calmly) If Shoko hadn't shown up, we all would have been happy. It's her fault your life was ruined. If you trace it back to the source, isn't it Shoko's fault that you're going through this right now?
(Composed) Listen... I hate you.
(Assertive and slightly hostile) Shoko, it's obvious that you're forcing yourself... when you say "thank you"... and "sorry." Now I'm sure of it.
Keisuke Hirose (広瀬 啓祐, Hirose Keisuke?) is a supporting character in the Koe no Katachi series.
He is Shōya Ishida's former friend that went to the same elementary school as him. Keisuke participated in the bullying of Shōko Nishimiya, though he seemed to be rather uncomfortable and hesitant when picking on her. However, he was much more willing to bully Shōya later on.
Personality:
In his youth, Keisuke was the comic relief of his friend group. His playful and rowdy behavior complimented Shōya’s daredevil mindset and Kazuki’s carefree attitude, though that also meant he would get wrapped up in Shōya’s antics. Much like his peers, Keisuke refused to accept any responsibility when Shōya was accused of being Shōko’s sole bully, very likely out of self-preservation or uncertainty.
Voice Description:
Keisuke Hirose's voice should be calm and composed, with a soothing and reassuring quality. His tone is often thoughtful and measured, reflecting his role as a mediator and a voice of reason among his friends. There should be a sense of maturity and reliability in his voice, conveying his dependable and supportive nature. However, his voice should also be capable of expressing subtle hints of concern and introspection, revealing his depth of character and empathy. Keisuke's voice should strike a balance between strength and gentleness, making him a comforting presence to those around him.
Keisuke Hirose will have a total of 1 line throughout the video.

(Opening up) I've been thinking of telling you this for a while... but I think we should find a safer and more productive way to spend our time. I mean, don't you think we've done enough... of this daredevil stuff?
Yaeko Nishimiya (西宮 八重子, Nishimiya Yaeko?) is a supporting character. She is featured as the Tritagonist in the Koe no Katachi series. She is the daughter of Ito Nishimiya and the single mother of Shōko and Yuzuru Nishimiya.
Personality:
Yaeko appears to be very strict and aloof, even to her own daughters, not helped by the nearly emotionless expression she adopts during a lot of her appearances. In truth, Yaeko is a woman who hides her emotions behind a wall, much like her daughter Yuzuru. For a decent portion of the series, Yaeko is only capable of openly expressing her anger and resentment, tending to shout at or even physically retaliate against people she dislikes.
Voice Description:
Yaeko Nishimiya's voice should be firm and authoritative, with a stern, no-nonsense tone that reflects her protective and often overbearing nature. Her voice carries an undercurrent of worry and frustration, especially when dealing with family matters. Despite her strict demeanor, there should be occasional hints of vulnerability and deep-seated love for her children, revealing her internal struggle and desire to do what's best for them.
Yaeko Nishimiya will have a total of 1 line throughout the video.

(Hatred) No matter what you do now... you can't erase the pain you caused her!
Miyako Ishida (石田 美也子, Ishida Miyako?) is a supporting character in the Koe no Katachi series. She is the mother of Shōya's Older Sister and Shōya Ishida, the mother-in-law to Pedro and the grandmother of Maria Ishida.
Personality:
Miyako is a kind and caring woman, who’s patience and emotional strength rarely falters, even when it conflicts with feelings of anger or sadness. Left by her husband to raise two children, Miyako works hard to provide for them and does her best to be a loving and supportive mother, showing a deep care for her small family.
Voice Description:
Miyako Ishida's voice should be warm and nurturing, with a gentle, comforting quality that reflects her caring nature as a mother. Her tone is often soft and empathetic, conveying a deep sense of understanding and patience. There should be an underlying strength and resilience in her voice, especially when dealing with difficult situations, showing her ability to stay composed under pressure. Overall, her voice should exude kindness and maternal love, making her a reassuring presence.
Miyako Ishida will have a total of 3 lines throughout this video.

Welcome home. *see's her son* What is it?
(In response to, "What made you decide to become a hairdresser mom?") Well, it looks fun doesn't it? Snip Snip! That's all!
(Calm and caring) You be a good boy starting tomorrow.
Ito Nishimiya (西宮 いと, Nishimiya Ito?) is a supporting character in the Koe no Katachi series. She is the mother of Yaeko Nishimiya and the grandmother of Shōko Nishimiya and Yuzuru Nishimiya who served as their primary caretaker after her son-in-law abandoned their family and Yaeko was forced to frequently work so she could financially support her children.
Personality:
After having retired, Ito moved in with her daughter after Yaeko's husband divorced and left her to raise Shōko alone. She took over the responsibility of raising Shōko and later Yuzuru so that Yaeko could work to support their family, even taking sign language classes and bringing both grandchildren with her so they could all learn and easily communicate.
Voice Description:
Ito Nishimiya's voice should be soft and serene, reflecting her gentle and composed nature as a grandmother. Her tone is warm and soothing, carrying a sense of wisdom and calm that comes with age. There should be a nurturing quality to her voice, filled with kindness and understanding, making her a comforting presence to those around her. Occasionally, her voice might have a nostalgic or wistful undertone, hinting at a wealth of life experiences and memories. Overall, Ito's voice should convey a blend of gentle strength and deep affection, embodying the essence of a wise and loving elder.
Ito Nishimiya will have a total of 3 lines throughout the video.

(Kind and considerate) Yep. You've had a little bounce in your step lately, too.
(Caring and gentle) That's just fine Yuzu. Even if your mother complains, you and Shoko both know what you want to do. Granny loves you two for that.
