2010s Covers: Shut Up and Dance (WALK THE MOON)
Project Overview
Hi! So I'm working on making a cover of the song Shut Up and Dance by WALK THE MOON. And I don't want to just get singers, pull an instrumental from YouTube and that's it. I want this to be as authentic a cover as I can get.
WHAT I'M LOOKING FOR
I'm looking for singers and musicians that are kind, fun, easy to work with, and of course, fans of the original song.

The original was sung by Nicholas Petricca and his voice in this song sits in the tenor range, mostly between G3 - C5. The chorus reaches C5, so our singer will either need solid control in their higher chest voice or a strong mixed voice.

[Introduce yourself, tell us a bit about yourself, what you do for a living, how long you've been singing for, why you think you'd be a good fit, etc.]
[Sing the following lyric sample of Shut Up and Dance to an instrumental or piano track] She took my arm, I don't know how it happened, We took the floor and she said "Oh, don't you dare look back, Just keep your eyes on me" I said, "You're holding back" She said, "Shut up and dance with me" This woman is my destiny, She said, ooh-ooh, shut up and dance with me
We're gonna need two guitarists for this. One for rhythm (playing those punchy chords) and one for lead (handling the signature riff and solo).

The bass in the song is driving, rhythmic, and locked in with the drums, so we're gonna need someone on bass that can do that.

Drums in the song are high-energy, there's tight playing with a lot of hi-hat work and some snappy snare action. Keep all this in mind.

This will be essential for the 80s new-wave influence that the song clearly has. The song uses bright, shimmering synths that complement the guitars.

We will need backup vocals/harmonies to add to the anthemic energy as well as make it feel more faithful to the original song.
