Since I was very little I’ve always liked reading out loud. I was the first to raise my hand around our homeschool work table out of my nine other siblings whenever there was anything that needed a read aloud. I loved getting the chance to do a little performance and be able to do all the voices. I practiced in front of the mirror for hours. Trying to perfect different accents, movements and facial expressions. Every rainy day was a chance to cuddle up into a blanket and listen to my favourite audio dramas from Lamplighter Theatre, Focus on the Famiky, Heirloom Audio, Jonathan Park, and so many others. I loved hearing the characters and story brought to life in my mind. And it was always something I wanted to do someday as well. Now as a mom of two, I enjoy reading aloud to my own children at bedtime. Bringing to life their favourite hero’s and stories. Storytelling truly is an art. And a passion. And it’s one I’ll hold, probably until I’m not able to speak anymore. Which my family would say is a guaranteed impossibility.
