About JCass224

In just 28 years, Jake Cassman has been halfway around the world and back, developing his powerful artistic voice and global perspective along the way. After attending the University of Pennsylvania for two years, Jake transferred to Berklee College of Music in 2010 to pursue the his passion for the arts and a full-time career in music. That leap of faith led to extraordinary opportunities, like hosting radio programs; writing for a music publication; teaching songwriting classes; booking and managing a venue; acting and writing for theater productions; and performing in countless shows, from weddings to dueling pianos to improv comedy. While in Boston, Jake founded the indie rock band Drunken Logic, which has toured multiple times and released three critically acclaimed albums. He also worked as a music director for Boston’s two most prestigious improv theaters, and managed one of the most popular wedding bands in New England.
Jake’s sense of artistic and personal purpose was forged out of California dreams, Boston grit, and an explorer’s curiosity. His desire to understand and improve the community and world around him drove him to study political science at Penn, and later to pursue his affinity for activism and satire through his music and art. Jake co-wrote and produced award-winning music videos for the Drunken Logic songs “This Side or the Other” and “What A Beautiful Morning!”, which have been used in high school classrooms and donated to non-profit organizations — the latter song and video were part of the 30 Days, 30 Songs project alongside artists such as Death Cab for Cutie, R.E.M. and more. He has advocated for automatic voter registration and against family separation, and volunteered for various causes and candidates for office. Jake is also dedicated to arts education, and has taught students of all ages how to perform together, write songs, and even improvise songs on the spot. Along with his musical and political interests, Jake saves time for pickup basketball, urban and rural hiking, and trying new beers based solely on how funny their names are.
Since moving to Los Angeles in March 2018, Jake has starred in Public Comment: A Musical at the Hollywood Fringe Festival, and performed in the theater action We The People: Establish Justice with the Sacred Fools Theater Company. In October 2018 Drunken Logic released their third record, The Loudness Wars, an ambitious and eclectic concept album addressing the forces roiling contemporary America and seeking empathy for the people left in their wake. Jake now works as a music director for the world famous Second City Hollywood, and can be found around LA and beyond working as a performer, writer and educator.
