I approach voice acting in that I believe that the best way to impart emotion is to having had experienced it or to be able to draw from having met with others.

I've
been in the military, worked in farms, worked at breakfast
diners and interpreted for multi-million non-profit organizations. This is not to toot my own horn but rather show that I've seen that humans, no matter what position in life, have emotions.

I might not ever be X character from Y period in time in Z universe but I know that anger, joy, sorrow, fear and pain are universal for all humans and characters.
