Lewtas
I have a strong affinity toward writing, films, and TV, in the sense of creating a story using writing, visuals, in-depth character exertion, musical tales and unspoken feels.
Summer of 2018, I completed an 8-week improv comedy course at the local community theater. The class met twice weekly and was led by an experienced instructor from a well-known improv troupe. Through a variety of ensemble exercises and group activities, I developed essential performance skills such as:
- Active listening
- Spontaneous thinking
- Embracing the "yes, and..." improv technique to build on my partners' contributions
By the end of the course, I had grown more comfortable with public performance and taking creative risks. The program, led by John, culminated in a final showcase where my classmates and I demonstrated the skills we had cultivated in front of a live audience at a nearby comedy club, where we received a standing ovation of clicking fingers.
