I'm 20 years old, and I've always felt like an outcast, even among my family; I grew up thinking I was odd, and everyone reinforced that belief. At first, I thought being odd wasn't too awful; it was just a term, and I'd rather be weird than normal. However, throughout my time at TAFE, I experienced some bullying, which caused me to change my ways. (which was strange because it's not like I had never been bullied before, but this time the awful advice that followed it lead to that transformation)

I stopped being loud, proud, and creative. Because of this, I began to bully myself, believing how good it was that I "wasn't weird" anymore. But it couldn't be further from the truth; I moved out and started a new life as this person I didn't know how to be; my family and bullies deceived me into believing I was childish; what I enjoyed was too niche, too unusual; and I strayed from what made me happy.

After starting ADHD medication, I couldn’t keep masking anymore; it uncovered my autistic traits and pushed me to rediscover who I really am, without downplaying my interests or pretending they don’t matter. So, by starting my project wishfall, I intend to create a space where I can feel interesting and meet others who want to discuss our "strange" hobbies and "childish" shows. Because I deserve it, and I believe others do as well.
