About Raymond Comeros

My silent little corner of the internet to put a face to what you hear: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgrsdfpzeZjb_dmEUT_yMXg

I've been a theatre kid throughout my youth and continued to immerse myself in the creative arts right from high school all through university.

Adult life happened, as it often does, and in my mind then I thought it best to sustain a steady income and be the best I could be for my family.

However, the yearning for that distinct satisfying fulfilment, that of which can only be found when creating or partaking in something one enjoys, is a fire that is never truly extinguished. It has begun to stir once again, now more than ever, refusing the mundane enshrouding silence ...

One day off as I was gaming, I would find myself thinking: "Hey I really like my character, especially their voice" or "The VA's must be having too much fun with that". Ultimately I asked myself "Why am I not doing this!?" From there I had an epiphany to seek out where I could learn more about this line of work and take it beyond being just a mere hobby in the wind.

I know this will be difficult, but with hard work, determination and faith ... I am sure this'll be quite the tale and every bit as fun, with nothing ever going to waste, I mean somehow now YOU are reading excerpts of my story whilst others are hearing me try, fail and succeed.

Based in my suburb of Hallam in Victoria, Australia, I am currently recording out of my humble, yet effective home studio space.

Elements of my setup are:

- Neumann TLM 103
for my main workhorse XLR microphone, good if you are a professional studio sound engineer or commercial business looking to work with a familiar sounding 'industry standard' microphone
on the technical side of things. I also own and use a Rode NT1 that I routinely swap between as needed. These days I am also repping the MXL 440 to show that the performance is key and that you don't need what is vogue to get things done.
I own plenty of other microphones and like to experiment hoping that you hire me for what you hear me do rather than primarily be just concerned with what I am screaming into.
- Rode ensemble 'lyre' shock mount and metal pop filter, mounted on a generic karaoke mic stand. To eliminate those atomic plosives. Dedicated Neumann spider shock mount for the TLM 103.
- Focusrite Scarlet Solo Gen 2 as my main 48V phantom power audio interface. Other listed interfaces are my backups and wanderer gear.
- AKG-K52, Behringer HPM1000 and KNK KRS 6400's for my 'cans' to allow for monitoring feedback. All closed back to reduce sound 'bleed'.
- Ableton Live 11 is my DAW.
- Lenovo G51-35 for the workstation laptop.
- Myself as the persona wielder behind the mic. Often sipping on nature's finest (water) or perhaps a Flying Power.

Paramount to outputting the best audio I can, is my walk-in closet. I've decked it out with acoustic treatment to the best of my knowledge and ability, in an effort to reduce reflections off the walls and ceiling as well as keep the overall noise floor down, in tandem with a noise gate and other useful postproduction elements. For the most part however, the sound you hear is as close to raw as it can be so as to be can shaped it accordingly for end users.

So if at the very least you are looking or are in need of a warm, calm and soothing voice with a healthy dose of playfulness and a tinge of that Filipino 'R' rolling goodness, then do let me know and maybe give me a go. Other than that, I am always giving different takes for whatever characters and scripts I encounter on this endless quest, and I am looking forward to working with you all the same.

Feel free to peruse my demos and expect regular updates to as I keep things fresh and continue to grow.

Thanks for checking this starry-eyed wild card out. Stay safe out there and God Bless:)

Education
Voices Of Tomorrow / EM Voices - 2021

Introduction into Voice Over/ Next Steps Workshops

Instructed by Andy Wells, Cecelia Ramsdale, Aimee Smith

The place to go to be in the know regarding all things voice over work/productions in my locality of Melbourne. The workshops I've completed directly dealt with tackling commercial reads, drops and plugs for radio stations and other similar products, character scripts as well as TV overdubs.

Here is were I've further developed better microphone techniques as well as accumulated pointers that better inform my decisions when interpreting scripts and direction to best adhere to what is requested from clients.

Additionally these workshops have also better informed my understanding of what tools and avenues I have and can take to navigate the industry from the ground up.

Deakin University Australia - Burwood Campus - 2013

Bachelor of Creative Arts - Dramaturgy/Theatrical Studies

Instructed by Yoni Prior, Rea Dennis, Louise Morris, Liam Amor

My full university education was completed from start to finish (2013-2015) in the field of creative arts for Drama and Theatrical studies at Deakin University at the Burwood Campus, Victoria, Australia.

Whilst not a dedicated acting school, the course that I partook in delved into the many different facets that inherently inform the process of being an actor or performer.
Core principles of live performance, improvisation, devised ensemble script writing, musical composition and arrangement and the various productions roles have all been par for the course. The lessons and insights I've accrued continue to serve me well today.

In my final year, together with an ensemble, I went on to bring an original devised performance to the Melbourne Fringe Festival of 2016 after winning an award from the Deakin Performing Arts Faculty.

Pricing

I seek to observe GVAA rates to fairly value my efforts, skills and time as a voice talent.

Open to negotiation consistent with the volume of work required and the scope of distribution of final product media.

If you make a project on this site and it somehow gets listed as a 'paid casting call', the expectation is that you SHOULD be paying your voice actors and paying them fairly. Excluding payment to just your other artists and saying to voice actors: “isn’t exposure enough?” comes off as incredibly insulting and disingenuous to the voice acting talent and the craft.

Projects I lend my voice to in the form of audition(s) or ongoing projects, I do so in good faith of the project and of my own volition and benefit.

Unless I consent, my voice CANNOT be used for any purposes regarding the training or modelling of AI for any reasons or purposes commercially or non-commercially. Any client I deal with who breaches contract and betrays this trust will immediately lose my contributions to ongoing projects and be pursued to the full extent of legal jurisdiction and procedure.

I know my worth and that I am more than capable of delivering quality or adapting accordingly, and with that I won’t take on projects for free.

What Raymond Comeros is looking for

I do like and want to support original projects and ideas if I find it interesting and well presented, with a director and hopefully crew that has sound heads on their shoulders rather than chips. Maturity and professionalism are standards I want to hold myself accountable for and I wish to a certain degree that this in kind is reciprocated. I hope to seek out projects that are fairly cast with an eye for quality on the part of the director and not simply cast right away or limited to a singular group of people.
Truthfully, I believe that voice actors should be cast because they are hard working, talented and believable in a role.
Nothing else matters, no additional pretending or projecting to be made.
I also want to be in projects that actually get finished in a timely manner.

Should I encounter clients or individuals that would seek to make unreasonable demands of myself, be juvenile, immature, unpleasant, prolong inactivity or otherwise be unprofessional to work with, I will cease all correspondence and decline any future works with said parties even if cast. Understand I am free to do so with my time.

Personally, I'd primarily want the world and setting of a story to be a well-established foundation in which the inhabiting characters are brought to life ultimately defined by their development throughout said story, not by a single trait or gimmick.

Moving forward, I won't be undertaking fandubs, Minecraft, FNAF, Gacha Club, Roblox, low quality projects, fetish-bait type work.

Would also prefer non LGBTQ+ related characters and material if possible.

Realistically and honestly, I am not interested in these aesthetics and do not adhere to these ideas for they are against my convictions. Essentially, I do not want to associate these things with my branding as I believe I wouldn’t be a suitable fit.

If you do contact me pitching your idea/project asking for my contribution, I will decline it if it is against my convictions, or I otherwise don't resonate with the material.

Being true to myself, it is only right that I as an actor, be transparent with my goals, manage expectations and not waste any one’s time.

Beyond the aforementioned things, I am after the whole experience in all things Voice Over/Acting both in front of the mic and behind it, fine tuning my skills and understanding as I go. I desire to learn, grow and in time impart wisdom.

My ultimatum is making this a full-time kind of deal, so expect to see me around silently carving my way whether you work with me or not.

Recommendations
  • @lynnen

Raymond did an absolutely great job with the lines I provided, and captured the character exactly how I imagined. Spot on, amazing voice actor.

  • @noodleanimations

Auditioned for a few of my roles and was cast for one. Showed consistent enthusiasm and a talent for human noises. As a director I think 2 strong characteristics of this actor are audio quality and enthusiasm. Definitely worth the recommendation.

  • @Remy_O_hara

Phenomenal talent. I've seen some of the small projects he has helped produce and he does quite well in them.
I was in charge of the sound design and engineering on a project he was on the roster for and can say he was easily the most pleasant to work with.
This particular project didn't go anywhere unfortunately, due to the incompetence/inflated ego of the executive production team and serval of the chosen talent.
For his part, Raymond's conduct was nothing short of professional, without any BS.
He objectively and consistently had the best sound quality, has great raw performative ability, demonstrated great comprehension and adaptability when engaging with both direction and scripts, as well as an extensive vocal range.
All of this is quite refreshing to encounter; especially on this site that is vastly populated by inexperienced talent that do not understand or value quality, 'woke' folks that only care for clout and arguing about silly 'pronouns' at the expense of good narrative or production, and otherwise selfish people that only serve their own interests instead of bettering projects alongside a team.
Really hope all the best for Raymond and his pursuits in voice over, for he is just flat out a good VA.
