Mario is one of the most experienced fighters in Smashville. He is the boyfriend, and ex bodyguard to the  abrasive and tomboyish princess of the Mushroom Kingdom, Peach. Although more than capable of holding his own in a fight, Mario is quite stubborn, and often lacks the ability to believe people can change for better, or for worse. This attitude combined with his over protectiveness for Peach can really get under her skin, leading to a considerable amount of conflict between the two. However, the town librarian, Rosalina, takes pity on him, and lends helpful advice and a helping hand to both him and the sassy, stylish diner waitress, Daisy, another very misguided character of loose morals. Despite his flaws, Mario's actions are usually the result of good intentions, but his constant fear for Peach's safety often make these actions come across as harmful. He tends not to get too close to people due to this overprotective nature.

Mario's voice can be with or without the Italian accent. This character is mostly up to interpretation. however, the actor needs to be able to convey high amounts of rage, concern, or even a somewhat emotionless performance depending on the scene. In the case that you choose not to use an Italian accent, think of a 20-22 year old who matches the character description above. :)
