Papa Hector is Miguel's great-great grandfather, who has started the family shoe business. He has banned music from the family because his wife left him and his daughter to play for the world and never came back. At first, he may seemed he may not care but deep down, he does care about his family-even Miguel. Hector's personality is the same as it was in the movie, only except he is strict.
Miguel is surprised to learn that Hector used to sing!
“My family would never — NEVER — leave my photo off of the ofrenda! Every year, they put it up; that estúpida máquina is lying to you!”
"OYE! We never speak of that – mariachi! She is nothing to this family!”
