Imelda is a trickster who has been having trouble crossing the bridge because her photo was not put up on the ofrenda. When she met Miguel, she promised to help him look for his uncle to get a blessing to go home if he puts her photo up on the ofrenda so she could see her daughter. Imelda is the same person as she was in the canon movie, just a bit perky. She also swears, just to warn you.
Miguel is surprised to learn that she used to be a musician.
“Okay, so I might have lied a little when I said I was Frida. But can you blame me for that? No, because no matter how much I try, you still refuse to let me cross the bridge!”
“Now listen, Miguel, the Land of the Dead runs on memories. If people remember you in a positive manner, your photo is put up and you are able to cross the bridge, thus being able to visit your family on Día de los Muertos. Unless you have terrible luck, like me.”
