Yu Yu Hakusho: Love Report
nipahdubs for Younger Toguro
The youngest of the two Toguro brothers, Toguro is the main villain of The Dark Tournament Arc, after returning from the 'dead'. However, the first time that Yusuke and Kuwabara defeated Toguro was a fight in which the outcome was decided long before either of them even entered the ring. A bet decided that Toguro would lose to both of them, a bet placed by Sakyo, Toguro's employer. Sakyo planned out this whole fight and its outcome, just so that he could put Tarukane out of business and gain all of his fortune, in which he'd use that fortune for a secret plan.
Toguro may appear to be a typical villain, with a threatening appearance and all. But, really, Toguro is actually quite kind, and caring, though he tries not to seem this way to most. An example of this is when he gives Yukina a genuine piece of advice, "I suggest you make things easier on yourself. Give up hope, and teach yourself how to cry.", though not said with the kindest words, it has a good intention under neath it. Toguro's personality can be best described by Koenma, in this quote:
"Perhaps he wanted to become the monster he already felt himself to be. Perhaps he was just afraid of loving someone. Perhaps he was just afraid of growing old… Toguro is a complex case. He’s like an anthill - the deeper you dig, the more tunnels appear, and inside each is a creature ready to bite. Layer upon layer of bravado facades, contradicting desires, and intensely wrought obsessions. But beneath it all I suspect you would find just a normal man, with a wounded heart… And a broken dream."
Voice wise, Toguro has a pretty deep voice, and it's rarely heard shouting, usually very low and intimidating, with some monotony to it. He is voiced by Dameon Clarke.
For reference:
"Think, Yusuke. What do you owe these people? Why do you let their weakness drag you down? Throw off the bags of guilt and you can become as powerful as me. Give yourself control! Believe in nothing but your own strength and it can never let you down."
"And that's precisely the reason you've been limited up till now. You're too soft. You don't need anyone but yourself. Don't you understand that? Guess I need to kill another one of your friends."
"Don't mourn me, Genkai. Like you said, this is the way I wanted it to end. Don't stay here trying to figure me out. You have a job to do. Your apprentice, Urameshi, he can still get stronger but he could go the wrong way too, like me. Maybe he will actually listen to you, the way I could not."
"And I can't help but think that our human lives are nothing but a cruel joke. Here just long enough to know what we want, then it erodes."
