Description: 25 years old, currently finishing his PhD in Biology and Ecosystems and working with Dr. Rossell in his research team. He’s quiet, clever and hardworking, but rarely smiles and has a gloomy air. He had a bad experience with Marc Rossell the previous year, and now he has a bad reputation and teachers and lab mates alike despise him. He’s resigned to a failed career before he even finishes his studies. He watches Tirs go straight to the same trap he fell in the previous year… but a part of him doesn’t want to get involved. In the end, although he’s rather shy and not a social person, his curiosity about Tirs wins and he approaches him.
(This is a dialogue, so please record only Biel’s lines.)
(Tirs (smile): "This is what you're working on? It’s kind of impressive.")
Biel (suspicious): "It is?"
(looking fondly at his terrarium): "I’ve been working on it for almost a year now, so I can’t be objective."
(Tirs: "What has this terrarium got to do with Alaya, anyway? Sorry, but I don’t know what exactly is your part in the project.")
Biel "This tank represents the future biosphere of Alaya, of the part of it that’s going to be inhabited by humankind. I’m trying to create an ecosystem that works well with the air density inside the dome…"
(Tirs: "It’s going to be slightly different from Earth’s, right?")
Biel "Yes. Only slightly, true, but that makes it difficult for some species to adapt. So I’m trying to find the most varied ecosystem possible to export to Alaya."
(Tirs (smile): "I’m really looking forward to see the outcome, all of it fitting together.")
Biel (shy smile): "Me too… These little guys here are dying to fly and reproduce in the real Alaya!"
(serious again): "Ah… Thanks for the coffee, but now I really have lots of work to do."
