No Fear Shakespeare: A Midsummer Night's Dream
fahmad27 for Helena
Helena is a childhood friend of Hermia. She is desperately in love with Demetrius at the start of the play, but is more rational throughout the later parts. She can be just as nice as Hermia, but is tricked by Puck as well, and it is shown she can be quite mean, sarcastic, and venomous later.
She should have a mid to high range voice. She is still quite young, but she is also just as mature as Hermia.
Did you just call me “beautiful”? Take it back. You’re the beautiful one as far as Demetrius is concerned.
This forest doesn’t seem deserted when you’re here, because you are all the world to me. So how can anyone say I’m alone, when the whole world is here to look at me?
Oh, fine. All right, go ahead, keep up your little game, pretend to be sympathetic, but then nudge each other and wink and make faces at me when I turn my back. Keep up your wonderful game.
