Rafiki is a wise mandrill who lives in a baobab tree and is a friend to Mufasa and the lions of the Pridelands. Either gender can play Rafiki, with the movie version being male and the musical version a female, and the preferred accent is the African accent used in the movie. Rafiki needs to be a strong singer, as they lead two songs. (Circle of Life and He Lives in You) Rafiki sings in The Circle of Life, Shadowland, He Lives in You, Finale, and Bows.
