Hey there my name is Colleen, but I also go by Coco.
I love character concepts and I enjoy story boarding. I'd love to join a project since there are so many amazing and creative artists on here- but I've realized I have a certain work style and I've wound up dropping projects.
SO! If you'd like to work together on a project, I'd be stoked!!
But since I've dropped projects in the past, I want to be clear about how I work and how I get things done- then you can get a better idea of what it would be like to work with me:
-
Deadlines: It's important for me to have specific deadlines. These deadlines must also be realistic as I still need to work, sleep, eat, and attend doc appointments. Ideally, I would set my own deadlines, ie; "What's the soonest you can get this done by?" then I would reply with an honest and realistic answer, depending on what the project is.
-
Communication: Communication is the most important thing when it comes to working together. I realize everyone has different styles of communication; different project leaders will have different things in mind. What works best for me? Is:
- being able to openly chat with the other team members/creators. I don't like using discord that much but I'm open to it as it's the most practical way for everyone around the world to connect. It can be difficult for me to plan for things (like meetings or group discussions) on short notice. Advanced notice for any type of group communication would be ideal- something like 1 or 2 weeks is preferable.
-
having a clear understanding of the project details. It's preferable to me that I understand all parts of the project and how they work together. When it comes to character concepts, I really need to understand a character, their surroundings, their relationships, their likes/dislikes, etc. If it's not clear cut, that's totally understandable! I love contributing ideas and being able to stretch my creative wings! But in that case, communicating that not everything is figured out would be important.
-
understanding my role and how it affects the project. If another person on the team needs to have my part done in order to do their part, that would be nice to know! It can be confusing and frustrating when people are late on their deadline (another reason for the first bullet point)- but understanding the consequences of not meeting that deadline are important. Like. Can I have 1 or 2 more days? Or does the fate of the project depend on me busting out some storyboards. I just need to know!
-
critique. If my art/concepts/storyboarding isn't making the cut, or if there needs to be more from me? Please communicate that. :)
-
Pay: I don't need to be paid to start working on a project. But also- being paid/not paid will affect my dedication to a project. Someone else's concept and story is not mine, it's theirs- it can be difficult to match the same passion a creator has for their own project. Overall, if I am paid I will be diligent with getting as much as I can possible; if I am not being paid, I will still do my absolute best, however I will mostly work on it in my free-time. Also, if pay is on the table, I might come up with a contract of sorts, just to make sure all parties are committed to holding up their end.

Open Mindedness: I know all that seems like a lot! and I'm sorry for it.. but I'd rather people understand my work-style rather than run into issues late or me just dropping out. I am very open minded and I can be quite flexible. I just love art and would like to improve myself and my ability to see a project through.
I'm not on this site very often, so if you are genuinely interested in my work, please email me:
