Rika Lau is one of Shin-Ae's closest friends, along with Maya Park. She is also friends with Yeong-Gi, Soushi, and Dieter. Her father works for Kousuke Hirahara and his family.

Rika is a kind-hearted and benevolent girl who is the most sensible one out of her close group of friends. In general, Rika is a sweet, gentle-hearted person but she can sometimes act unusually jealous when it comes to the things she adores (such as Mr. Huge Jackedman's biceps, which she wrote a whole blog about).

Rika is very understanding, knowing her faults and mistakes should not be a burden for others. She has the tendency to blabber to the point where it may be unnecessary and then regret it afterward. Rika is also quite an observant girl and because of her observations, Rika was able to identify what Maya was doing and so she warned Maya about her actions, stating that it may affect her and Shin-Ae's friendship.
